Hello steemians
Its been a wonderful week curating and helping out quality posts from the Nigeria community.
News and Announcement
In moving forward with the vision stated here, project bigwaves hopes to bring the Nigerian community on steemit into limelight.
Goals and objectives
a comparison between the brewing nigeria /Africa as against established communities like Korea and Indonesia
While our main goal as curators is to first and foremost find and curate good posts, our extended ojectives, not necessarily official are to
Increase the number of Nigerian investors on steemit
Increase the number of quality posts emanating from the Nigerian community
Guide new Nigerian steemians in the right direction in respect to posting and tag usage
Discourage plagiarism, scamming, and copy/pasting from the Nigeria community.
This we do as part of out community building projects
Getting the Nigeria tag to the top 50 is a goal we would like to see fulfilled
Works done so far
So far so good, we have been able to and continue with several projects that we have on ground. From steemit n Nigeria run by ehiboss, to steemit virus by @gbenga to the @onquality program by @fisteganos.
I and the team have been able to get into several groups both on whatsapp, discord, where Nigerians are populated, and help in orienteering those who are new, as well as old ones , on how to write good posts, quality content.
as well as encouraging individuals to use the Nigeria tag
The Guidelines of project bigwaves
In case you missed them, here are some of the guidelines that must be followed before posts can be eligible for Bigwaves' curation.
Posts must be by Nigerian authors only. This project has been setup to grow the Nigerian community and so we will be focusing on Nigerians only.
Only original content. Please make sure sources are linked properly. Plagiarism is strongly frowned upon so if you just "copy and paste", you shouldn't expect to get any reward.
Posts must have the #nigeria tag. Using this tag makes it possible for the curators to find your posts. It is very important so make sure to use it.
A single author may be upvoted only once every 24 hours. This is to make sure that the reward is spread evenly across board.
The higher the quality of your post, the higher the power of our votes! We are not out to reward just anything but quality. The better the quality, the better for the community.
We would not be voting on any post @cheetah or @steemcleaners comments on.
If you'll like to support the project in any way, please contact @donkeypong on steemit.chat.
great job, thumbs up to you and your crew.
Naija for life. I've registered over 200 students from university of UYO. Currently there has been no campaign in akwa ibom, but I'm hoping one will be done by me
Good show bro, glad that other Nigerians are preaching the steem gospel
Yes oh
A quick question for you guys: what are the criterias you look for in a post having the #nigeria tag?
From what have seen you guys do not upvote all this post till the 24-hours lapses and i couldn't help but wonder if those full votes are meant for only your posts and comments or you seriously need to spread it out evenly on all the #nigeria post.
If that was the sole aim of empowering you guys anyways.....
I love the fact that you resteem other Nigerians, like its stated, these are guidelines, not hard and fast rules, its a way to known how far we can sway both ways, we vote and look fer posts on a daily, even posts that don't use the ng tag but are by nigerians are sometimes voted. The reason for the tag is to be able to get the estimate amount of Nigerians on steemit and to make finding ng authors easier. Note that this isn't a thing that we asked for so to speak, but a responsibility that we carry. Self voting is limited, of you scroll through my posts, you'll find that I Dnt give myself 100% or even 50% , I give myself from 25 down, I post only once a day and throughout last week I posted only 3 or 4 times, even my musical Sunday program was affected.
We don't give full 100% vote as the VP has to spread round several Nigerians.
If we were voting blind, we could cover everyone, but we have been instructed to vote on only quality posts, posts that make sense and are original.
If you would take time out, please check and see that we use the majority of our voting power not on ourselves, but on great authors from the Nigerian community.
This you can do through steemdb.com
Good point, its not accusation but an observation; couple with some gossiping.
And i think the best way was to ask you and @ehiboss, no offense my brother i apologise if this sounds accusatory!
