I’ve been part of Operation Curation Delegation also known as @ocd since 17th of September 2017. As a very visual and creative person myself, I mostly curate art and creativity related tags. It is the language of colors and imagination that speaks to me most and sometimes without words. Over this short period of time (seems like forever already) as a curator, I’ve noticed few patterns that I find very interesting. They make sense to me, but maybe not so much to a great part of the platform.
Artists put a lot of hours and energy in creating their pieces of art, so much so that sometimes they have no energy left for anything else. When it comes to presentation on their blogs, a lot of them lack in few areas that with improvement could potentially take them to the next level.
For example, someone creates beautiful sculpture or a painting and posts few photos of it on their blog with nothing else than title. We are living in era of social media where every person is bombarded by imagery day by day, hour by hour. How does your pretty picture stands out? Why should someone cast their precious voting power on it? What is the story of it?
No one is questioning your skills. Each of us are unique and have our own path to progress and expression, but few line of words that mean something to you yourself can make all the difference for others to connect with you and your works. I know, I know. Sometimes you have the feeling like you have nothing to say or your words are escaping you no matter how hard you try to catch them and form the meaning in few lines. I am right there with you. Be yourself unapologetically and speak your mind.
I see those who do good, those who have a great potential and may not even realize it or struggle to get noticed and the rest is wild weeds (the ones who brainlessly copy/paste things from the internet, add source and still miraculously get votes, those who plagiarize, spam or produce low quality works of almost no value). The wild weeds are growing in numbers at insane pace. Where is the problem? Are those users who are used to sharing whatever crap content on platforms like Facebook? They are too lazy to create themselves or too brainwashed to think for themselves?
Here is the part where I would like to challenge you a little. If you come across someone you think has a great potential to do really good, but they are not there yet, give them a little bit of encouragement, show them your support or give them your two cents. They might not always listen, but at least we would have tried to better our platform and help someone to reach closer to their goals (or realize them) and connect with community better.

As part of the Steemstem team, I come across a lot of budding science posters who are, quite frankly, awful. I've been putting a lot of effort into DM'ing them and teaching them how to get to the standard required to get upvotes from steemstem, and it's very rewarding.
They come back to me some days later, a few hundred dollars richer, thanking me and that's such a good feeling ^__^
Even though they get 3x the amount I ever get -__-
You are doing amazing job @mobbs and so is rest of the Steemstem team for whole science community here on Steemit! Bows.
It is amazing to hear, that it works and people learn something along the way. That is what community is supposed to be like. All of us working together to become stronger, grow and exchange with experiences and ideas.
It does feel good, doesn't it? :)
Hehe, I know what you mean, but don't worry we are on the right path. ^^
Together we will rule the world!
Nice, I like to read that there are people out there helping people (there are quirks with this platform, still learning more everyday). I like to help people as well and always enjoy some advice.. the good, the bad and the ugly :)
Teach me, teach me, teach me...I'm a newbie ;-)
If you want to focus as a science writer sure, but it looks more like you're into fashion/travel? Not exactly my area of expertise!
It's not easy and I'm still fairly new, but I can try to assist.
I'm posting original content, with purpose drawn illustrations, and sometimes struggle to make 10 cents (unless I use pay for bots, which i don't want to do).
If you look at some of my early posts, I had some explanation around voting etc and tips for beginners. You can as PM on steemchat if you like. Cheers
Haha good guy mobbs that deserve a %100 vote, to ease the pain of seeing them getting more rewards whaha.
But you are right in my time in ocd, I have tried to give feedback too. A few sentences may help newbies who just started a lot.
What I also experience frequently is that some times I could nominate a post if they just tweaked a few things. It's a shame...
Yeah it sucks when they don't listen, too. But we all gotta do our bit in this cacophonous landscape!
thanks for the 20 cents =P
Hey @mobbs - In that case, I'd appreciate any feedback you could give me on my first (and only, so far!) science post on Steemit. Many thanks in advance for your thoughts.
on my way!
Cheers! :)
we do what we can do, and the rest is all up to them... at least we do something... :)
Yes, you are right. We can help with advice, it is up to them to take it or not. I just feel that some of them simply lack guidance or tiny, tiny push right direction. :)
I hope lots of people see, read and think about this. Unfortunately, it is no longer enough to be one-dimensionally skilled as the world is looking for the skill to be presented in an easy to connect with package. No one is going to package it for us.
When it comes to art, people want to feel a part of the process, understand a little of the artist, see behind the curtain as to why it was created in the way it was. The narrative goes beyond the piece itself as it gets connected to a life.
Thank you so much @tarazkp for your support and resteem, and especially for pushing me to be more active on the platform. I am so grateful to have met you over Steemit universe.
Living in the world that changes so quickly, the more skills and dimensions we acquire the better for us and maybe we will be at better spot than rest of the population of just consumers.
There are so many ways artists can use their art. To tell stories and use it as part of illustration or as the center piece. Of course people are curious about the artist as well.
You are always welcome and my door is always open to lend a hand if you need :)
@tarazkp Thank you and same here :)
:) @m31
Thanks for sharing and resteeming this.. That's how I got to see it.
People want popular, easy, trendy. I may be short, but they are shortsighted.
@smallsteps Thank you little one! They are indeed, shortsighted, ignorant and don't know joys of creation. I am sure you will not follow their footsteps. :)
I'm really glad to have you as a curator on ocd.
This is perfect. I find often that I outperform some AMAZING artists (as far as payout goes) with my mediocre art but because I go the extra mile to make the post well rounded and entertaining, they perform better than an image alone.
@saywha Thank you for support and resteem my fellow OCDer! I see your awesome monster art only improving :)
Extra mile makes all the difference and it is usually the missing link between artist and their followers.
Wow! Very Encouraging...
This is true, While graphics are pretty cool, it's not just enough to post it without giving followers and curators at least a hint or clue on the meaning. It's not enough to just post a picture and a title. @tarazkp is right, we want to get to know just a bit more about the artist. And why he does what he does.
On upvoting good posts, I feel this correlates to encouraging them. Well, I for one am not much into graphics. But I sure give good posts my teeny weeny upvote when I meet one. Having given out the time to make something quite interesting and sometimes get missed or neglected, I know how it feels to see someone upvote and commend your good work. I value it a lot, so I guess many other newbies do too...
We should learn to encourage others. Sometimes, it's all the encouragement they need to do better.
Thank you for posting @m31
@pangoli signing out. 🙌
I am so glad you found this article through @tarazkp He is great, isn't he? :)
Thank you @pangoli! I am very new to platform myself and I am learning as well every day. No matter how tiny our votes might be, they still matter because of our voice and because we are all people. I know the feeling of posting and waiting to see what happens, to doubt and worry that no one will see it or not care at all for all the hours put in, because they take hours, days and sometimes even weeks. Sometimes when you look at something, you don't really think about the time, effort and creativity person has given to it.
You are absolutely right. Thank you so much for reading and supporting! :)
Nowadays mainstream potential is better than creativity.
What way? Money wise? I disagree, sorry.
That is not my philosophy, I value much much more something creative, meaningful and effortfully done than something that is created just for the sake of money making. What I meant with my first comment is that creativity and effort is not valued the same way it used to be.
I hope that clears things up. And great post btw.
Upvoted and following.
Thank you @mggiodev :)
Upvote and following you

I always love the arts by @prabalmallick, may be it will make some sense to you as well ?
And I completely agree to your thoughts, me being an art lover. This platform should reward such creative people.
Thank you for the encouragement and advice @m31! i just wanna say that i agree with you. I frequently have made blogs that i wish it could have been improved more. There are also times where my words escape me and i find it hard to express what i really want to say. Hehe but i always strive to improve by reading other people's blog and observing how they did it. Im more of an observer type then i try to emulate what i learned and put my own little spin on it. Great post @m31! 😊
Tune :)
very nice art
greetings
