Curie Weekly Update (19th Sept to 25th Sept 2016)

in #curie8 years ago (edited)

There are several announcements in this weekly update - both minor and major. In spirit of Project Curie's transparency, we wish to use this weekly section as an ongoing development blog on our project to communicate our progress on top of the many casual exchanges happening in channel #curie.

  • For those new to Curie, please follow @curie, and join us in https://steemit.chat/channel/curie
  • Most Curie members are taking time off content creation for curation works, so please check out our members' contents whenever possible.
  • Remember to follow and interact with authors that you love whenever going through The Daily Curie.

Important announcement

In the previous week, we have announced the newly appointed moderators @royaltiffany, @pfunk, and @firepower for channel #curie on Steemit.chat. With the overwhelming support and rise of quality posts given in that channel, we have decided to revise the channel guidelines and payout fees to better accommodate the performance of scale versus operational costs.

The main updates to the channel #curie guidelines are:

  • Maximum 5 submissions / finder / day.
  • Curators sharing posts from other authors will be offered a finder's fee of SBD 3 if we vote on the post. You may share your own post, but we encourage you to share others'. We'll be paying out Finder's fees to your Steemit wallet in SBDs. Please be judicious with your selections, otherwise we'll be forced to enforce limits on submissions per day. And of course, self-promotions are not entitled to the 3 SBDs finders fee.

Here's a half-major announcement: We're in the verge of rolling out another curation body, focusing on long-term accounts in the platform.

Weekly Statistics

Over the last week, Project Curie curated a total of 754 posts at an average of 107 posts per day - a small decline from the previous week as we had a day off re-calibrating our voting accounts. A total of 460 unique authors were rewarded, which is close to 25% of actively engaged users. SBD 25,729 was generated at an average of SBD 34 per post, also at a slight decline due to the market price of Steem. The posts curated varies on a daily basis, largely due to the fluctuation of quantity of posts that meet our criteria, but we are targeting an average of 150 posts per day going forward, while screening over 2,000 posts everyday.

Authors

The Top 10 Authors by payouts last week were -

#curie @ https://steemit.chat/channel/curie

We upvoted 166 posts submitted in #curie, with SBD 830 paid out / pending payouts to curators - a clear spike of ~20% from the previous week. To keep the fees under control, we have revised the finders fee to 3 SBDs, as stated in the announcement section.

65 curators submitted posts by other authors. All these numbers are up from the week before.

We have a new champion this week. The top curator this week is - @fubar.bdhr with 28 voted submissions, which is more than double compared to previous week's top curator. Here's a trophy for you buddy 🏆.

Daily Statistics

Activities are rather flat this week, perhaps due to operational capacity. The dips during the midweek were indicative of some time-off for curie operators, and downtime for maintenance.
