The Dr. José Luis Foltour School is located in the ''Las Casitas neighborhood'' of the City of Barcelona. This sector was consolidated some time ago by the incredible demographic expansion of the city and the high population growth already for the 60s and 70s by which this sector was created spontaneously and without established design, giving it one of the attributes such as one of the lower class sectors of the entire city of Barcelona.
This school has approximately 800 enrollment children, two sections per grade and runs from kindergarten to 5th grade in morning and afternoon classes. However, the conditions in which classes are given are not pleasant, it is a public institution that in theory is the central government that should take care of it, but they do not have water, the regional government sends a tanker every day to fill the water tanks of the school and for the children to have water for their daily routine.
The activity began to be organized in the early hours of the morning along with all the teaching, administrative, and maintenance staff of the institution. We as collaborators were helping to start preparing the glass of oatmeal that would be given to children as breakfast that day, in addition to the organization of sound and preparations because the school had prepared a cultural exhibition for this operation.
An image with my team of young people willing to support these social activities in order to encourage the future of our country, it is important to be aware of these activities and understand that if we continue here in our country, we must help in what we can.
The event: Solidarity Operation and A Solidarity Glass
This project was created with the private company, specifically Empresas Polar in conjunction with the state government of Anzoátegui called Operativo Solidaridad, which will be responsible for bringing breakfasts to schools with scarce resources starting this week, this operation will be It will extend approximately 3 months. Although 3 months is somewhat short in my opinion, I see from the perspective that at least the private company and the government helped that 3 months were children with something in the stomach at the time of going to class, it seems a pretty work important, understanding the context of the economic crisis that the country is experiencing.
For the opening of the event one of the 4th grade students began to give a few words as thanks for the action of the day, and in conjunction with a speech by our current governor Antonio Barreto Sira, talking about children, the future of the country, and Despite the small budget that is sent from the central government to the state, private companies such as Polar, are helping low-income children to have a breakfast every day.
Once the speeches of the directors of the institution and public bodies were completed, each child was lined up receiving a glass of oatmeal with milk for breakfast, all the children were very happy to have breakfast at school that day, we were all supporting , giving a glass of breakfast to each boy or girl present.
I love seeing the faces of these children when they have their breakfast and they can be with something in their stomach even one more day.
Once the breakfast was over, the cultural events began with national dances, poetry readings, and an infinite gratitude from the parents to all of us who were supporting the operation.
Lastly, tooth brushes donated by Colgate were distributed to the children so that the children could use them after breakfast to help each child's dental hygiene. A very pleasant activity in what happened all that morning the truth.
This operation gives us great lessons: We must support and be involved in social assistance activities for the most needy, we must be that friendly arm that they need so much in these times when the economy is getting worse, and be able to reach our homes to feel satisfied because we were able to support some children to have a daily breakfast, which will not be much, but for them I am sure it is more than enough.
