I am participating in a contest and will write on 5 curious facts about Nigeria.

Nigeria is a developing nation in the western part of Africa. Here are some curious facts about the country:

Highest Twin Births

The Yoruba tribe in southwest Nigeria are confirmed to have the highest number of multiple births. With a statistic of 158 twins per every 1000 births, a particular town, Igbo-Ora, in Oyo State is nicknamed The Twin Capital of The World.

Largest Diversity of Butterflies

Cross River State harbours the largest diversity of butterflies in the world.

The Jos Indigobird and Anambra Waxbill

These endangered species of birds are found nowhere else on the planet but Nigeria.

7% of Languages Worldwide

Nigeria having more than 500 ethnic groups within it is home to 7% of all languages spoken today.

Nollywood

Nollywood, the Nigerian Movie industry is the second largest producer of movies behind Bollywood. About 200 movies are produced weekly.
