Hello steemit world
Today i am here to tell you everything about the serious vulnerability issues of intel ,AMD 86and 64 bit processors

The computer world is completely under meltdown after a serious security vulnerabilities has been discovered in processors with X86-64 bit hardwares. These hardware are discovered with serious design flaw with is allowing cyber attact on the hardware .

This can be a serious issue as this a old news. Intel was aware of this a long time back Let me highlight all the main point of this issue

What is 'meltdown' vulnerability on intel amd processors ? Which system are affected with it

This vulnerability was exposed by THE Register report long time ago . Its has been public just 1 day ago
Acc to this report a serious vulnerability was found on processors made in last decade by intel x86 bit processor chip
There variety of system are running on it even all of us are using these processors includes PCs ,MACs etc. Linus is worst affected . linux developer are strugling hard to find a solution for that . But thats not a easy problem . Window has rushed a emergency update for window 10 but that even seen working either
This issue was first ever reported by google project zero team along time ago
Though acc to report from google this vulnerability extend beyond the reach of intel including ARM(MOBILE PHN hardware manufacturer) and AMD

Thus google project zero team hunt for zero day security vulnerabilities acroos the world software and hardware. This problem was not discovered before

This report point out the design flow of Intel processors allows normal program to access crucial kernel memory of system. This should idelly remain protected becouse it contain highly sensitive data include password ,photo, credit card information. I
If the protection of these kernal memory are bypassed than its posible to access such crucial data
These vulnerability can compromise the whole network of server network . Every computer is at risk.

Google’s Project Zero team was able to demonstrate this where one virtual machine gained access to the host machine, then to another virtual machine. The so-called security flaws on Intel processors are taking place due to “speculative execution,”used by “modern processors (CPUs) to optimise performance,” points out the Screenshot_20180104-134123__01.jpgProject Zero team in their blog post. Speculative execution is where computer systems perform some tasks that might not actually be required.

Now the big question arrise .What is fix for all this mess?

Linux developers are trying to overhaul the OS’s “kernel’s virtual memory system.” Microsoft will likely address the issue in the upcoming Patch Tuesday. The report also points out that once the fix is available, performance of Intel products will be negatively affected.
Intel products will be negatively affected. Computers could slow down by 5 to 30 per cent. Coming to Apple’s 64-bit macOS, this will also need a software update to fix the problem.

Statement has been issues a statement for all this mess:
All technology companies have been made aware of new security research describing software analysis methods that, when used for malicious purposes, have the potential to improperly gather sensitive data from computing devices that are operating as designed. Intel believes these exploits do not have the potential to corrupt, modify or delete data

According to Intel, these exploits are not “caused by a ‘bug’ or a ‘flaw’ and nor are they unique to just the company’s products.” The company claims other vendor processors and OS are vulnerable to these hacking exploits as well. The statement says Intel will work with “AMD, ARM Holdings and several operating system vendors, to develop an industry-wide approach to resolve this issue promptly and constructively.

Intel is also denying any performance impact and states it will not be significant for regular users. The statement adds the company had plans of disclosing this in the coming week, but was forced to issue a statement because of “inaccurate media reports”. Additionally, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich told CNBC that he was “relatively confident” that the security vulnerability had not been exploited and promised a fix was comingScreenshot_20180104-140931__01.jpg

Big ques ariess taht why does Intel CEO Brian Krzanich sold off a large portion of his stake in the company after the chip maker was informed of this vulnerability in there flagship processors . Before it was publicy known?

That means Intel was aware of the problem before Krzanich sold off a big chunk of his holdings. Intel's CEO saw a $24 million windfall November 29 through a combination of selling shares he owned outright and exercising stock options.

The stock sale raised eyebrows when it was disclosed, primarily because it left Krzanich with just 250,000 shares of Intel stock - the bare minimum the company requires him to hold under his employment agreement.

This is big ques for the share holder and market insiders

Intel says the sale was pre-planned - but that plan wasn't put in place until months after it learned of the chip vulnerability

Let see what happen in future hope no one is affected with this vulnerability

Till then happy steemiing
