Hello all,
I'm new to steemit and to all of the 'cryptos', blockchain, hash, wallets, hardware wallets, 2 factor auth, ICO's, etc...
Found this cool site and will be contributing going forward.
I'm in the Bay Area California and work at a technology firm manufacturing biotech products. (I'm not one of the wealthy guys like a director / VP or above) Just in 'production' grinding it out...
I'd like to share some of the hobbies that I usually do on the weekends, mainly cycling either road or mountain bike. I try to stay in decent shape (for an 'older' guy) so I can cycle further without 'bonking', so I also jog about once a week and lift light weights, do a bit of hiking, dabbling with guitar and snowboard at least once a year. Eating healthy is also a priority!
More to come, but here are a few cycling / misc photos...
The truckee bike park near Lake Tahoe. (Bike is a Norco Team Carbon)
A few from the Tahoe Rim Trail, took a shuttle near the Mt. Rose ski resort (Tahoe Meadows), the trail takes you down to the Flume trail which has spectacular views of the lake. (Bike is a Santa Cruz Blur LTc)
Looking down from the flume trail onto Sand Harbor, the north east shore of Lake Tahoe.
Sanborn park in Saratoga California (My bike is semi hidden on the bridge) Miles of mountain bike trails for as far as you can ride, it's nice in the summer as there is a lot of shade from the trees.
If your a cyclist and around the bay area in April, make sure you stop by the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey. It is a 4 day cycling festival with all of the latest offerings from main bike vendors, components, clothing, food...., they have just about every kind of race as well, mountain bike downhill, cross country, enduro, road racing, criteriums, cyclocross.
This years starting line for the woman's XC race:
Last year I rode around Tahoe on the road bike and I highly recommend it! Views are awesome, I'd suggest going clockwise around the lake as the views are unobstructed looking to the right. (Rather than over the road) It is 72 miles and 4k of climbing, although you do not have to go around the whole lake, an out and back will get you great views. Here is a closer view of Sand Harbor from the road. (Btw, Sand Harbor has kayak rentals.... it gets really busy so go early in the morning)
The Tour of California rolls through in May and usually stops in San Jose. They have a little festival at the finish like and a few huge TV screens to watch the race.
The San Jose finish line (Bike is a Giant TCR advanced):
Here are 2 guys battling it out near the finish line after sprinting on a climb a few hundred yards back:
The Cannondale promoters
Lastly, my only snowboard day trip up to Dodge Ridge south of Lake Tahoe. Some fresh snow a day before...
Hope you all enjoyed the photos and descriptions. Maintain your health as that is something you cannot buy!
