Strava PR, training progress, hernia knowledge

in #cycling7 years ago

The training volume has been ramping up, following in a normal progression of increasing TSS (I use TrainingPeaks to analyze my power / HR data), last week I hit 355 TSS points, my most in a long time, then I backed off this week to recover. Yesterday this happened:

I was about 17 hours into the fasted state when I started the ride. HR stayed pegged nicely, and the slight tweak in my left knee has mostly subsided. So I'm clawing my way up to the top 15-20% of the Strava leaderboards. I have no ambitions of reaching anywhere near the top but I would like to sneak into the top 10%. The warm weather yesterday probably helped too.

Here's another youtube video on "sports hernias" (athletic pubalgia) that gives a really good synopsis:

It still looks like I am heading toward surgery although I have been feeling better this week. My summer plans are starting to get thrown in a bit of jeopardy depending on when I can get it done.

Here's a bunch of UCI world cup videos to get you motivated:

BTW when did all the top women racers become so hot? As if their bike skills were not mesmerizing enough...

It was great to see Sagan get his Paris Roubaix win as well. Always enjoy watching that guy. He's great for the sport.
