The daily pedal spinner! #CyclingMotivation Part 7

in #cycling7 years ago

This is my attempt to regain cycling fitness with the help of fellow Steemians. By posting my regular ride statistics and workouts, I hope to motivate others and myself to get on the saddle more often and keep them pedals spinning!

The ponds have dried up and look up towards the sky for rain. The monsoons will hit within a couple of months, until then...

Saturday night was party night and I went to bed by 2 AM. But sleep was not on the cards, as my dogs were also in party mode! The female is on heat and the two males are going nuts vying for her attention. She has turned from a docile little sheep to a ravenous lioness and bit one of the males on his face. So my night was spent tending to the dogs and for all practical purposes I was playing the role of a condom. Keeping them from conceiving. I finally managed to catch a couple of hours of shut eye before their howling, yelping and baying for blood once again woke me up. It was already sunrise and time to go out for a spin. Sleepy eyed I picked up my MTB after almost a month and went for a spin with the sun already having heated up planet earth.

Surprisingly I hardly saw any cyclists, considering it is a Sunday. The heat might be playing a role in keeping people indoors. As I entered the forest range, I saw a couple of cyclists finished off their ride, they thought I was crazy to head out so late in the day! A couple of hours later when I was finishing my ride, I saw a bunch of Japanese riders starting off, and I thought they were crazy. To each their own!

The cycling was slow, easy paced and just enjoying nature. Getting back on the MTB after so many days was lovely. Having to get your butt off the saddle for rocks, roots and bumps is so much more involving than the road bike where you just put your head down and grind the pedals! In the forest, I spotted a Jackal, rabbits, antelope and bikers!

Here are the bikers. By the time I whipped out my phone to take a picture, they were gone!

Riding the rocks is a proper roller coaster, you never know when you will lose balance

The entry into the trail, the truck tyres are from a military vehicle as they were conducting some exercise there

If you go off the narrow line, you will surely pick up a puncture. There are so many mesquite thorns

I was playing the role of a condom

hahahhah dude, you are the best. As a good masochist you've picked up the hottest hour to go, kudos to you.

Summer is here. Every hour is the hottest hour!

So better get out at midday! hahahahahaha
The winter is coming our way, I don't know what is worse.. riding below the sun or freezing the nose.
