Dad Tip of the Day - Vacation for 🚽

Dad Tip of the Day - Save some of those vacation days... you will need them for unexpected things - like POTTY TRAINING.

I recently put in a time off request for this Thursday and Friday so that Kristine and I could potty train our son, Jacob. 🚽

My have times changed. I used to put in time off requests to go fishing, hiking, golfing, to the beach, vacations, etc. Being a dad has changed my priorities, which has resulted in time off requests for things like potty training. I am happy to do this though, as I am looking forward to not changing as many diapers! Small victories.

We are going to be home bound for a 4 day weekend and will hopefully get this done without too many accidents. Wish us luck! The plan is to motivate Jacob through a reward system and positive reinforcement - he will be getting sweet treats for getting his business done, and after 3 consecutive days with no accidents, he will get to pick out a special toy. Not sure if this is the best approach, but we will shortly find out if it works or not!

Thank you for posting @brian.rrr.

Yes.....repetition...is key along with consistency.

He is sure to want to please.

The positive volition on his part and cheerful consistency on the parents part is a winning combination.

Wishing your whole family success.

Cheers.

the kids face is so funny ;)

He is so silly sometimes!

Of all the things that have changed, potty training isn't one of them. Nummies were what my mother used to use (just a few dozen years ago - that makes it sound like fewer years, doesn't it?) ago.

The rest of us sure wanted to pinch some of those goodies but my mother kept so few on the top of the bathroom cabinet, it would obvious that any were missing. (Oh the good old days when all I worried about was that the potty-training were out of reach!)

Best of luck on the long weekend!

Thank you... we will need all the luck we can get!

It's hard to be a father, but it's the best thing in the world. I have not been. But I have a brother, my sister and my little girl cousin. Even being a brother wants responsibility. The things that are seen as trouble actually give pleasure. For you and the family.
This is my cousin too :)

Good luck with the potty training! We are working on that as well and it takes commitment from the parents... How old is your toddler? :) Helen

Thanks, and good luck to you as well! Jacob will be 3 years old in two months!

Same age as my girl. She turns three end of April. She is ready, but there are some accidents from time to time. Sometimes she hide when she's going for nr.2 in stead of going to the bathroom. Hope you'll manage within the days you have available. :)

Let's Blaze! Good luck, I hope it's going well! I absolutely recommend this ladder potty seat on Amazon. No more dumping/washing the little potty chair bowl. And he'll feel like a big boy!

Thank you! Appreciate the tip as well!

Fatherhood is interesting and hilarious. Thank you for being a good father.

What a good fatherhood advice and it's true.

Someday I'll become a father too, so I'll quickly save this in my online diary for future reference.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful tips. I really appreciate.

Happy New Year
