It's been more than a month ago since I shared the last Dagashards/Dagamium standing and with the @dagamers account getting close to 50 stacked HBD I think it's time for another update.

As you can see especially @dotwin1981 has grinded more than his share and got more than double of the DGS I collected. So that means I have to start tuning into more streams.

Overall I'm very happy with how the viewer rewards pan out, I like the system since it's fair and promotes people tuning into the website.

Streams and Upvotes

As we enter the cold season, we're seeing a new influx of streamers and many of you are really picking up the grind. Some of you might remember me saying that I wanted Dagamers to be more engaging by this time, and I think we've managed to achieve that.

With more streamers, we're starting to face the luxury problem of limited voting power. To address this, I'm reflecting on some ideas—or better yet, rules—to determine upvote weight.

Here are some variables I want to implement in determining Hive Power distribution:

  • Beneficiary Rewards to @dagamers: How much beneficiary rewards does @dagamers receive from the streamer?
  • Active Support of Other Streamers: Is the person actively upvoting other streamers?
  • Growth of Their Own HP: If they are upvoting others, are they also stacking their own Hive Power over time?
  • Prioritizing Streams: Prioritize one stream from each streamer every 24 hours and give smaller rewards to additional streams.

Beneficiary Rewards to @dagamers: How much beneficiary rewards does @dagamers get from that streamer?

The beneficiary rewards help us stack HBD faster, which in turn allows us to reward DGM holders more quickly, pass bigger upvotes and cover costs.

Active Support of Other Streamers

While it hasn't been a major issue, I've noticed that some people, especially those following Dagamer's curation trail, are actively spreading more upvotes, while others only upvote themselves.

This isn't as problematic as it might sound because beneficiary rewards still indirectly help other streamers. However, I believe that we grow together, and supporting each other accelerates our collective growth.

This doesn't mean you should upvote every single stream, especially if you don't like the content. But since the main goal of Dagamers is building a community, upvotes are a metric of how much you support other streamers. Even if you consistently upvote the same few streamers, it shows you've found "your people" (assuming there's no abuse, of course).

Building Hive Power Over Time

Supporting other streamers is great, but if you're not also building your own account over time, you're not fully contributing to the community's growth.

Prioritizing Quality Over Quantity

Some of us are really grinding, but from experience, I know that shorter and fewer streams don't necessarily mean lower quality. Some streams take much more preparation than just putting on a clean T-shirt and firing up OBS.

To ensure quality is rewarded, we could prioritize the first stream from each streamer every 24 hours and give smaller rewards to additional streams. This could balance things out, as those who stream more will also contribute more through beneficiary rewards to @dagamers (see point #1).

Anyway, nothing is set in stone and it is nothing more than an idea at the moment. I'm sure that there are many other things that I'm not keeping into account nor have I an idea how much weight each point should be given.

What's important for me is also that you will never get "banned" from upvotes, at least not for anything non-abusive ;). Changes like these are meant to be, and feel, rewarding for putting effort into building, not punishing for those with less power or time.

As a Diablo player for decades, I know the grind. :D

As long as you play a sorceress it's all fine :D

I love dagamers and I think it's a very good proposal so I'll keep streaming until the end of time.
