Chalk
Jay Ajayi - $8200 = 5.06% PO/13% AO - 3.5 pts
- Despite the wonderful match up with the Jets, Ajayi couldn't get anything going on the ground with limited attempts due to the Dolphins being manhandled most of the day. This wasn't all his fault though as the rest of the Dolphin's offense was held in check with the exception of one TD pass in the 4th quarter. This was certainly an anomaly of what Ajayi normally produces and is capable of.
Pivot
Todd Gurley - $7900 = 13.48% PO/23% AO - 35.3 pts
Ty Montgomery - $7200 = 13.92% PO/22.1% AO - 9 pts
- Gurley finally capitalized on all his potential unleashing a monster game against the 49ers. He showcased not only his hard running skills but also his receiving capabilities. Anytime a player can record a 3 TD game it's going to be a huge day in fantasy. He's now increased his fantasy production every week since the beginning of the season.
- Unfortunately Montgomery couldn't replicate last week's magic and had a disappointing 9 pts this week. He didn't get many attempts on the ground due to the close contest with the Bengals but he had 8 catches in the game. Despite those catches only amounting to 15 yds, Montgomery would've done wonders for a PPR league. Cincinnati's offense may have been lower tier since Week 1 but their defense has played well in shutting down one of Green Bay's deadliest weapons.
Fade
Lamar Miller - $6100 = 5.56% PO - 6.8 pts
- Miller's match up was gold but he still hasn't capitalized on anything fantasy relevant this year. QB Deshaun Watson kept this game competitive and Miller seems to be more of just a guy who runs the ball for the Texans opposed to being their feature back.
Contrarian
CJ Anderson - $6900, 1% PO/6.4% AO - 5.3 pts
- Anderson only had 8 carries and his counterpart RB Jamaal Charles managed to outproduce him and score a TD. Denver didn't have a lead throughout the game and wasn't able to grind out the clock giving Anderson the touches he needed. Denver's loss was definitely considered an upset, especially considering Buffalo's defensive injuries, and affected Anderson's fantasy value.
Sleeper
Carlos Hyde - $6600 = 2.38% PO/20.6% AO - 22.9 pts
- All I can say is you're welcome for this one. Somehow Hyde wasn't as much of a sleeper as I anticipated as he had the 5th highest AO for RBs. Nonetheless, the statistics didn't lie for this match up and Hyde delivered. If Todd Gurley didn't have a career day in the same gay as Hyde he would definitely be getting more recognition this week.
Bargain (< $6000)
Buck Allen - $5700 = 2.38% PO/5.4% AO - 5.3 pts
- In what was my personal biggest upset of the week, the Jaguars completely annihilated the Ravens defense and shut their offense down all day. Buck Allen's production was stymied largely in part to the imposing Jags defense. Being down by so much throughout the day, the Raven's were forced to throw and Allen was targeted plenty with check downs but couldn't attain any YAC. Joe Flacco looked nothing like a professional QB and derailed every supporting player on offense from his lack of showing.
