While in Stay At Home time

in #daily5 years ago

Hello guys, hope everyone is doing well and sound.
It's been pretty boring to stay at home and even more worrying when you don't have a job to rely to.

Some people within the family have stable jobs that led them work from home while others have been laid off until the panic about the virus calms a bit more.
It's a bit annoying the fact that we have lots of cases of this virus but at the same time learn why the common flu have become endemic and have to endure it every year.

Anyway, if there's something I could recommend is to help your near family if it's in one of those cases where they don't know if they are going to keep their job because the US government like to play socialism from time to time.
Food and water are quite easy to clean and share to relatives, paying the rent its a bit more complicated.

If you happen to be in one of those situations where you are laid off, you need to sit down and revalue you finances.
Think how much you have to pay in bills you cant chance like rent and car insurance and put those as a need to keep paying.
Other things like electric, gas and water bills charge you over usage. So you can have a bit more play during the months ahead of the "pandemic" we are having.
Normally internet and cellphone bills are also considered by many to be essential so I say keep it at your discretion.

  • electricity
Use what you must to keep your bill down. Don't use too many lights or don't use air conditioner too much(or a heater if its electric). If you don't use your electric equipment often, just unplug it.
No food in the fridge? ( and I mean only there to keep water cool) unplug it, unless there's something to keep frozen or refrigerated then why have it on?

  • Gas
In the U.S., some houses have some kind of heating that uses gas to keep functioning. during the day, go to your thermometer and turn it all the way down. if you need to heat a place up but not the whole house ( since its saving money time) use an electric heater, if you want to keep yourself warm at least. If you want to go to the extreme, you can turn off your water heater but I can only suggest it since some people like to shower with warm water.
You can do this if you really want to keep your bills as down as possible.
Get a pot with water, heat it to boil and dump it in a medium to big water bucket in your bathroom. you only pay for what the pot took to heat up instead of what it took for the water heater in your baseman to heat your pipe system to your shower. Still a suggestion though.

  • Water
If you pay a lot for water (its cheaper than other bills) try to use less water to do everything. Not sure How much you want to save on this one but you what you think it's best. Do at least shower daily since there's a virus and all that.

  • Make small investments
Well, the market ins't dead yet and our friends at the post office are still working regardless of the situation. (Better pray for them, they keep the country together as far as mail goes) If you have any skills buying and selling, or you are a maker of anything, or you have something broken, sell it for a fair price online. One man's trash is another man's treasure and it could help you make some extra money for the time being.
Invest in some shipment equipment and sell what you like. This has helped me a lot when looking for a new job long ago. Broken game consoles can be sold at a good price believe or not.

Do what you can to keep yourself busy and others going by being the example. Look for a new job just in case there's a change your can't go back to your job, learn to be distanced from lots of people in case someone has the virus and it as contagious as the flu, so be careful out there.

Have fun bench watching Dtube and Dsound. (I stopped paying netflix and the like, feels like too much of a waste of money)

Wish you everyone quick recovery.
