It was raining :: Daily and Fresh 📷 (17/366)

I would have wanted to take this photo with the DSLR, but it was raining quite a bit, and I didn't even have an umbrella. So I left the camera in the bag, and shot this with my smartphone.

I wonder how the vertical orientation never works when I'm uploading photos from the phone.

It used to work always some two or so years ago, but these days I will always have to put in extra work to see if the photo is upright or not, and then try to rotate it several times, and even then it doesn't always work.

Anyhow, this was shot after taking Miro to school this morning. The building in the end of the road is the city hall.

See ya!

Are you posting via esteemapp? I have the problem too. The vertical photos always ended up at horizontally.

Yep, but I recall the problem started earlier, when I was using steemit via the mobile browser. eSteem is pretty new as a posting tool for me.

Indeed the problem is apparently affecting the smartphone photos on my computer as well.

I have a feeling that some graphics libraries might have changed at some point in time and no-one has catched the bug yet.

Cut some of the photo from one end. When it's a little bit more square shaped eSteem and all the other front ends should show it correctly.

Temporary fix, but how long do we have to do it? These things used to work few years ago. But suddenly something changed, and both the internet, and my computer stopped orienting vertical photos upright at the same time.

I think someone borked the imagemagick or jpeg libs at some point in time and hasn't yet caught the bug.

That's possible.

I googled all over, and it seems it's either a problem with the smartphone saving wrong kind of EXIF information, or the image processing libraries that receive the uploaded file.

I am starting to think it might be a broken EXIF problem. But I wonder how it affects almost all mobile phone brands.
