I spend all my money on Guinness | Personal

Who is my dog, of course. And this week is his adoption anniversary! 3 years ago today he and I woke up in the back of my car parked in a hotel parking lot in the middle of Texas en route home from Trinidad, Colorado where I scooped him up.

His past owner was an old roommate of mine. In truth, as nice as she was I think we let her move in because her dog was SO cute. Unfortunately, life got heavy and she had an increasingly harder time taking care of herself let alone another being. Months after I'd moved out and away, we agreed for me to adopt him.

This was the best gift anyone's ever given me. She successfully made TWO lives better with this decision, and my heart has grown so much since. I think about Guinness's past mate a lot, and pray for her health and vitality.

Guinness – the pleasure has been all mine, having you in my life. Observing you come out of your shell from that of an extremely quiet, shy dog to learning how to use your voice and take up space. Your awkward way of cuddling because you just don't quite get how to. The most welcoming and loving hello's by any creature in the whole world. Could you imagine if we all said hello to each other like our dogs do when they see us? Our theme songs pretty much sum everything up: I imagine you sing me I’ll Be There (The Mariah Carey version, of course) and I serenade back Heavenly Day by Patty Griffin. Grateful for every day with you and cheers to many more, bud :)
