Brown rice is harder to cook and takes longer than white rice in my experience. I have written a few posts about how to cook brown rice on my wordpress blog for fitinfun. I like it for the health benefits and also to provide variety in my diet.
But I did not know about this Thai method to make cooking brown rice go faster.
- Get the biggest mortar and pestle you have ever seen in your life.
- Get your strong male friend to sit on the ground and pound like crazy for ten minutes.
Voila! Broken rice that cooks in an instant! None of my Thai friends can believe I find this method to be surprising.
The rice was added to a seafood dish, cooked up quickly, and was fantastic! It was soft and smooth and just delicious.

I use a Canon ELPH160 point and shoot camera for my photos.
Ahhhh the broken rice method :))
It does go faster then! People here call broken rice 'rice for the poor'. So you will never see anyone doing this here hahaha
Really! This rice was perfect before they broke it. Where are you located?
Caribbean. Rice and peas is our core business ;)
lol - I asked my Thai friends tonight and they do not think broken rice is for the poor here!
I also dont agree. Rice is rice from my point of view, but the story comes from when the poor people could only buy left over rice which wasnt suitable for selling anymore. The broken ones!
Aw! I'm glad to know it is a dish for everyone now :)
One thing about it, if I lived over there I'd probably be a lot skinnier!!! LOL. I'm used to these huge, fattening Southern Fried meals!
lol - I eat great here and I have lost maybe 10 more pounds. The food is so much healthier that you would not believe it. They do have just food, but no Southern Fried anything :)
Sharon I would miss my Southern Fried!!! If I ever moved there I'd have to show them what Southern Fried Food was. LOL. (I'm posting and commenting but no luck with money showing up like the first day...I still don't know what I'm doing for the most part.)
Read my tutorials and networks. It was crazy slow for me for about 3-4 months and then is gets better. Post into challenges and contests and comment like crazy.
I'm trying to. I've done the color challenge, daily food photography, and the tree one. I don't have much time cause of running wide open for online sales. I just got in a $900 order of signs yesterday and am ordering another $1,000 of signs and glassware from another supplier today. I've been working 7 days a week whether I want to or not. I'm trying to at least get a base started here and learn somewhat of what I'm doing but I doubt I'll grow as quick as you cause I just don't have the time. It's been hard to find time to just do the 2 and 3 posts much less look thru and comment. I have a girl that comes and works here 3x a week so those days I'm up early and running hard. Today and tomorrow won't be so bad cause I'm on my own. I sleep in and then when I wake up I work til evening time but I go at a much slower pace by myself.
Just post once a day and comment more. Thursday Green is good for your glass. Good for you on the business angle. I am still struggling with the weight loss and social media coaching side of things. I need to get my act together.
I've noticed that just like you say in your tutorials you see more results by commenting. I got a $0.06 upvote for a comment the other day. My 1st post got a $0.03 upvote so it does seem commenting helps more than posting starting out. I'm amazed by some of these people with $20 to $60 posts for one post and then some in the hundreds of dollars. I still don't understand how all this works, but it's interesting.
I saw a very old thing. These are not in our country anymore. New generations do not know them. The picture is very beautiful.
Thank you - I think this is a very old mortar and pestle too.
nice post 😌😌
very interesting
