Taken by Chris Chua, in Nasi Padang Asli Kampung Baru
Using Device: IPhone 6
Where they located: Kampung Baru, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.
(*Intersection between Jalan Raja Muda Musa and Lorong Raja Muda Musa 6)
What they serve: Typical "Padang" or "Minangkabau" cuisine
What time they open: When I reach at 9am, they already started their business.
Why I like it:
- Varieties
Don't need me to further explain. Picture can speak thousand words, just refer to the picture itself you will know how many type of dishes they provide. FYI, they actually own 3 stalls. First 2 stalls is for them to display all the fish, chicken and beef dish. The 3rd stall is for them to display the vegetables dishes. I can say they provide more than 20 type of food in total! Here comes the problem... WHAT TO PICK...
- Taste
Normally when I decided to dine in a malay stall, fish will not be my first option. I will take it because when I'm wondering which dish to pick, they start serving out the fish from the kitchen. Everybody love their food to be fresh and hot. So I decided to have it a try. Well, I didn't make a bad decision after all. The fish is fresh and well match with the ulam, sambal belacan and some fish curry with chicken curry gravy.
- Price
Price range is between RM 7 to RM 12, depends on what you take. For my lunch will cost me about RM 7.50 for this. It is still a acceptable price for a lunch with fish in it. Add on with my drinks, RM 10 will be enough for a meal.
Incidentally discover this gem due to my work requires me to travel over this area. Traffic wise is just terrible. You can try to imagine a malay kampung, full with narrow roads, no parking space and loaded with traffic during lunch hour. I'm shock that there are people who came from far away to here just to eat and take away. Luckily I am there since 9am, so I manage to avoid the traffic and able to enjoy a delicious lunch.
Next time if you are around that area, just drop by to that place and try out their food. Typing the name "Nasi Padang Asli Kampung Baru" will lead you to this place.
If you are taking LRT, just need to drop by Kampung Baru station and that will takes you 8 mins to reach this place.
Hope you enjoy my blog. Happy eating!
