Part of what I learned as a child from my mom is to enjoy seasonal foods. This is because while some foods may be available year round, their season makes them cheaper. Yes, price and nutrition matters sometimes.
I got some veggies. The of the plant is called in hubby's language, Ukazi. They use it along with waterleaves to prepare a native fish called Afang soup. The Afang or Ukazi is sometimes used along with Melon or other combinations.
For this particular soup combination though, the Afang is usually grinded after cutting. You can see it being processed before the grinding here.
I got some fresh tomatoes for stew. It is not really the season of tomatoes but we can't really help it.
The preparation of the Afang before cutting.
I got some proteins too. I sometimes wish we were vegetarians but I will leave the reasons for another day.
There are two items on the left and right sides of the knife 🔪. Do you know what they're used for? Please share your views.
That's it for my #marketfriday post. By the way, it rained cat and dogs in the market after a while.
