Streetphotography: Overpopulation Or Chaos

in #dailyliving2 days ago

Living in one of the Sub-Sahara countries of Africa has it's pros and cons. While the cities are usually full of human activities and looks overpopulated most times, the rural areas are usually the opposite.

On day to day, many persons start their daily hustles and businesses as early as 4a.m. Recently, the weather conditions has become very warm or rightly put, very hot. Many persons are suffering from heat rashes and skin burns. Me and my familia are not spared from the heat waves.

A typical day's activities in one of the city's centers is seen in the image. With many going about their activities using tricycles, there are the street traders who trade on all kinds of stuff to the passerby. From the point I was, I was able to see a portion of the city.

Traffic suddenly started building up on the hot afternoon on a section of the road. Although it is not uncommon most times, this time, it took a different shape. There were many people marching behind a tricycle with other tricycle operators closely following up.

It was not an accident but a case of one of the tricycle operators riding against the traffic and being arrested and dragged by the traffic law officers. Some of the other operators were following in solidarity to one of their own and were pleading and threatening at the same time.

Shortly thereafter, based on the insistence of the traffic law officers to arrest the offender and his tricycle, the man collapsed on the floor. I had shivers on my body and couldn't capture that with my device as many thoughts rush through my mind. Is he still alive? What will become of his family and dependents? What if he had underlying health conditions and was just managing it to fend for his family?

The traffic officers were undisturbed by the man's fall or so it seems from where I was observing, because they left him on the floor and continued their way with the man's tricycle. My eyes teared up at some point and I was totally numb with so many things going through my mind.

I couldn't stand the chaos and moved away from the area as soon as possible.
