February is a special month for many people around the globe, not because of it being the shortest month in the calendar but due to the associated celebration of love. While growing up, I have heard many stories associated with this month and February 14 specifically.
Most of the stories centers on a certain 'Saint Valentine'. While it is usually marked in the media as 'the season of love', I have always wondered why love should be celebrated in just one day. If the stories of this day and the efforts of Saint Valentine are factual, how best should it be celebrated?
Living in a world full of uncertainties and cruelty, no doubt love is a very scarce commodity and personally I feel we should have a good dosage of it not just a day out of the entire days in a year. Everyday or at least most days of every month should be used to remember the significance of love in our lives.
Thinking back though, I am one of the persons that February brings love to, not because other days or months are loveless but because hubby proposed to me on a February.😍😍🥰🥰. I remember that day like the back of my palms. Hence, why I may different opinion about February 14, I smile when I see couples together.
Another occurrence that has characterised February 14 around me is the occurrence of so many 'heartbreaks'. This comes as a result of so much expectations and disappointments 🤦. Some who feel they were important in someone's life observes the opposite on this day. No gifts will be sent, no going out together and the most of it is that they'll notice they were not the main bae.
For me though, I have never experienced such. There is so much love and care within my family on daily basis and I wish I could share with most people who may be lacking such. Exchange of gifts is such a norm that the frenzy linked to Valentine's gets unnoticed by us.
