State Minister for Water Resources Zahid Farooq has said that not only dams should be built, but also trees should be planted to protect them. In order to prevent the dam from breaking, it is necessary to create a forest by planting trees. In order to prevent the erosion of the dam by pulling the current of the river, the direction of the current has to be changed by cutting the raised char.
The state minister said this after inspecting the embankment at Asashuni and Shyamnagar in the coastal upazila of Satkhira on Saturday morning.
He said the erosion site should be protected by cutting the soil of the char that has risen in the river beside the eroded dam. And you have to plant trees there. Only then will the embankment be sustainable. Otherwise the dam will not last.
