Caporales is a folk dance from Bolivia, created and presented to the public for the first time in 1969 by the Estrada Pacheco brothers, who were inspired by the character of the Caporal de la saya. The dance has strong African roots in its style, and is typical of the area of Los Yungas, in the department of La Paz.1
In June 2011, through a Supreme Decree, the Caporales together with other dances were declared Cultural and Intangible Heritage of the Plurinational State of Bolivia; According to the government entity, this measure was taken to stop the appropriation attempts by neighboring countries
The "Caporal", who in many cases was mestizo or mulatto, was the foreman of the black slaves brought to the altiplanic zone during the time of the Colony
The men's original clothing consisted of: whips, loose shirt, belt or belt, military cut trousers, boots and whip, while the woman wore a wide-sleeved blouse. Long skirt that has been shortened to a minipollera, shoes and the characteristic hat type Borsalino or also known in Bolivia as a cholita hat. At present the clothing has been developed in a vertiginous way incorporating designs and colors that identify the different fraternities or groups of Caporales.espero they like this beautiful dance which gave me and gives me many joys in my life
