OMG! π±π±π± I'm really glad you got out safe. Something similar happend to me last summer surfing the Maldives. I wasn't prepared for the force Mother Ocean has there. One wave hit me hard and I found myself on the reef a couple of minutes later, cutting my feet on the sharp-edged rocks and damaging my (rented) surfboard accordingly... So yes, I know well how you must have felt then.
Lesson learned. That's it :)

They ended up charging me $500 for that board. It wasn't fun.
Wow it sounds like you have surfed all over the world!
You must be kidding?!? $500 for THAT board? Wow....
I paid mine with a smile, haha πππ (advantage of being a girl)
There are still a LOT of places where I wanna travel and surf. Next year I'll try Bali.
Yeah I was so pissed and was in an argument with the guy over the surf board. He actually was saying he was going to call the cops. I was like "Don't talk to me like I'm 12 years old. Go ahead and call the cops. This is a civil mater not a criminal mater so the cops aren't going to do anything to resolve this. " It was real dumb. I really do want to actually take lessons and learn how to surf. It has to be amazing to stay up like you do and harness the power of the waves!
Incredible! You are right, that's not a criminal matter. It wasn't even your fault. Mother Ocean should have paid π
