Two bus drivers and two assistants, who were detained in a case over the deaths of two college students in a bus accident on Dhaka’s Airport Road, have been sent to jail following court orders on Tuesday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate AHM Toaha passed the orders and set Aug 6 for hearing the plea after police produced the suspects in his court, said the court Sub Inspector Asaduzzaman.
Police would seek 10-day remand for interrogating four suspects in custody, but the hearing could not be possible due to the lack of case documents, he told bdnews24.com.
No lawyer has come to stand for the accused, he said.
The suspects are Sohag Ali, Jubayer, Enayet Hossain, and Ripon.
Sohag and Jubayer are the drivers of Jabale Noor Paribahan bus while the others are assistants.
A Jabale Noor Paribahan bus had struck and killed two students as they were standing at the foot of the Zillur Rahman flyover on Sunday.
The dead had been identified as Abdul Karim and Diya Khanam Mim, students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College.
Diya’s father Jahangir Alam filed a case over the accident at Cantonment Police Station on Sunday night.
