I first met Bruce in 1960 while he was watching a Judo class in Seattle ...when I was 11 years old. My father originally brought me there with the possibility of enrolling me in this Judo class if agreeable with me. After striking up a conversation with Bruce however, while standing together, it soon became evident that my father was more interested in enrolling me in his (Bruce's) class which was being an ongoing one elsewhere.
One of the sure "selling points" for my father ( and later me) was the steel forearms Bruce had even at the young age of 20 .
My father and Bruce actually had very much in common as both were very strong nationalists who despised the aggression of one nation by others. Soon Bruce was even a regular fixture at our home joining us for home-cooked meals, often trying to teach me various Gung-fu concepts, and even teaching me how to draw.
He was always respectable to our family even to the end, and I only wish I could have visited him in Hong Kong prior to his passing.
I am now living in Hawaii and hopefully will make a video representing all the techniques and exercises which were presented to us in the early years. Many are classic Wing Chun exercises that closely emulate Chigung (Qigong) energy replenishing styles.
The rest is history. .... ; ;
