Hello, It's been a long time since we have posted any updates on the blockchain. We have received so much love from the community and this is the best community so far that we have seen on any blockchain. We really want to see the HIVE ecosystem grow but due to some unimagined circumstances our progress is halted.
That's why after a long discussion, the team has decided to put Dapplr on sale including all the rights. It would include the application itself (Android, IOS, BackEnd, Prototypes e.g HiveSSO, Chat system etc.) along with all the assets like Entire codebase, design assets, HIVE blockchain accounts, Social media accounts etc.

Is mobile app written in Flutter?
What are the monthly cost of running application?
And how much do you guys estimating/expecting? It is sometimes difficult to put numbers, better would be perhaps to at least give us approximate man hours it took bring project in current state?

Sorry to hear that, was one of the few apps I installed on my phone and enjoyed using for curation occasionally although I just use my PC for hive 99% of the time.
Hope someone picks this up to not let it die completely and good luck to you guys with whatever is facing you and in the future.
can we buy it with DAO fund? so it would be open source after? :) And someone that pays a part of it get the brand? Would be IMO a cool thing.
The 100-120k they are asking is probably a bit out of reach for any decentralized funds... Pretty ridiculous if you ask me, but they seem to be under the impression they have some good IP here worth selling.. even if it's just another Instagram clone that has hive plugged in.
They likely basing it on what Ecency gets paid on a yearly basis.

Not even remotely.
With ecency we have an open-source mobile app, that was the first impression I had. But I'm not that technical to know how innovative things are, that's why I ask :D

How do they handle keys? I never used the dapp? Is there some easy-to-use option, newcomers have an auto import or something like that? The downloads would be also Interesting. How many people use the dapp now.

These are all things that are Interesting and depending on that 100k are good or not. Because I think, there would be ways to raise funds with a token system on top of the dapp.
If someone buys the brand +dapp and gets support from dao to release the code ( without branding), we could have a mobile app for every hive front end and token.
Would be on the other side very cool. Maybe @aggroed is interested in it for HE to sell as an additional service + community can support it and get the code too. @leofinance and other tribes could be interested in it.
Considering Instagram clones are a dime a dozen, as a bunch of workshops use it as a usecase ui/ux tutorial, as well as ease of use to plugin hive / hive signer, more so if you go the react route over flutter... I'd say even 25k is horribly over priced. A quick Google search for "Instagram clone flutter" comes up with dozens of options... All open source and tutorial driven... Along with the fact that @blocktrades has the HAF coming soon, The barrier to entry will be obliterated.. hopefully spurring many more mainstream app clones.
As for the brand, it's a pretty meh name... It doesn't seem to have any real meaning.. maybe I'm missing something.
I am of the mindset that hive needs a solid Instagram like interface, but I think closed source options aren't the way to go about it, I'm very much a believer in the open source way.

I'm not an expert in apps. So it would be not that difficult to build something like that?
That's really interesting. How much would it cost to start a insta close again for hive? Via copy and paste ( exclude all branding and graphics) only code to work on hive with for example own token?
Because market a cool app is something I would know :D

It's really a pity that you guys can no longer continue with your project, I don't use this app much but it's the nicest interface I've used so far on the blockchain.
It is unfortunate that they have to sell a project with so much future, Hive is tomorrow!
Dapplr is a great app. Hive needs a decentralized Instagram like Appics/tata and Dapplr can solve this problem. It has a great interface. Hope wise people will buy Dapplr.
Shit. I use it every day and hope that it doesn't fall away. Such a great app and I'm sure a lot of man hours went into building it.

Could the Hive community buy this? or maybe @ecency should get the codes and integrate? What challenges did you face to manage this?
I think this selling of such a project, tells a lot about Hive and developers, I am relatively new to Hive, But some things might imply that developers on Hive are struggling, this is something that must be addressed and looked on because after all everyone needs to put money on the table.
Developers, content creators must be well considered so that Hive can have a proper foundation if people start to walk away on projects it doesn't look good on our resume.
