The Hours before Dawn – End of the Tunnel into the Light
By A.P Allison

"Joy comes after the darkest times." - Alexander Pym Allison

As a great thinker, I have often thought about natural phenomenal such as the darkest long night before Dawn and the few hours before a woman gives birth to a child.

End of the Tunnel

Imagine yourself walking through a very long dark tunnel. You may walk for hours without nature. At the middle of the tunnel, one may experience the darkest darkness. You may begin to wonder if you will ever see light again but at the “end… is light.” But just after that, you begin to get closer to the end of the tunnel, you begin to notice it’s gradually getting brighter and brighter until you walk into the light again, So is life, like the man walking through the tunnel wondering if he would ever see light again, when we walk through the dark parts of life we may begin to wonder if we would ever see the light again. We may get tried and want to give up but know this, that time you feel like giving up don’t because you are closest to the light. If you walk a little longer, a little more patience, a little perseverance, you will walk into the light.

The Hours after Midnight

Another phenomenal that I have observed is the darkest part of the night before the hours of dawn into day light. While the famous proverb, “it’s darkest before dawn is literally not true, one thing is sure; after the long darkest darkness of midnight, know that while it might still be dark for a little while, the light does and will come. Maybe not quickly, but it will come, a little bit lighter, day by day, little by little. Gradually, and then it will be light and bright again.

“When we are in the darkest moments of life, we may wish that the time pass by quickly but know this, no matter how long the darkness last, the light will surely come.” – Alexander Pym Allison
“Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.” – Victor Hugo

I will add something that I have learnt from the Dc Comics of the Blue light of Hope – The Blue Lantern’s oath or anthem

Blue {Hope}
In fearful day, in raging night,
With strong hearts full, our souls ignite.
When all seems lost in the War of Light,
Look to the stars, for hope burns bright

While this is from the comics, it teaches us one basic truth, in the war of light (when we are battling with dark moments), when all seems lost, when we are scared, we have to be strong – ignite our souls so to speak and look outside our present situation and we will find the light.

Labour Pain Ends – Joy of Motherhood begins

Like I said earlier, “joy comes after the darkness.” This is true for a pregnant woman about to give birth. Labour pain is one of the most excruciating pains for many mothers. The numerous cramps, pains, contractions, and emotions felt just before delivery called pangs of labour is the worse pain experienced by an expecting mother. But what happens after that pang? When the baby cries? The mother experience one of the greatest joys ever – The joy of motherhood.
Like can present us with distressing pangs like that of an expecting mother in labour. Yet, just like a woman experiencing pangs of labour, we must embrace the pain to reach the ultimate joy.

Beware of the Darkest Night – The light Cometh

As I have said, in the beginning of this article, the light will come but before it does you will feel like giving up.
“The darkest hour of the night is the one just before dawn"… Because the point in which most people give up, the last stage of the struggle, as it becomes just too much, and they reach their breaking point.

It is the crucial final test, the climax that tests your will and ultimate strength. But it is only at this point where growth happens because it's no longer about perseverance, but now pure will and heart.

It is often referred to as 'The Dark Night of the Soul'. It is the journey into the light, from your darkness, into your strength and hidden finding the resources of your soul.

This is why most people fall at this final stage. Ultimately it's about courage and the powerful emergence of the hero from within ourselves.

Remember, the breaking point is the not the time to give up. “When all seems lost in the War of Light, Look to the stars, for hope burns bright.”
