How To Deal With The Darkness Of Life

pexels-photo-1480690.jpegCurrently, we live in a culture that sells us on the idea that sadness is a depart from the norm when actually is it the default mode of human beings. This idea has lead to the development of spiritual bypassing which, in and of itself is an act of repression. It causes us to deny the dualistic aspect of life while avoiding a holistic world view. That’s why I want to bring a little balance back into the narrative with a reminder of why life is sometimes hell. To learn how to deal with the darkness of life, we must not turn away from the horrors of the world. What is actually needed is to lean further in for transformation to take place. It’s possible to learn how to deal with the darkness of life in a way that is beneficial.

First, however, let’s acknowledge some of the disturbing realities that are taking place in the world today.

The phenomenon of being squeezed through a birth canal and into a world of troublesome characters is a seemingly normal occurrence. At once pure and vulnerable in our infancy, we become molded over time by humanities affliction of the three poisons: greed, hatred, and ignorance. Friends, family members, and lovers are often unable to love us the way that we desire to be loved. This is because they are just as inherently selfish as we are. This unfortunate predicament inclines us to develop defensiveness as a precautionary measure to protect our fragile egos.

And yet, our defenses can’t protect us from the encroaching effects of a materialistic brainwashed, pharmaceutical dependent, and spiritually contaminated culture. It’s challenging to remain unaffected by the hierarchical corporate and political systems. By their nature, these systems attract and reward the certifiable behavior of few who are devoid of conscious and keen on manipulation.

Industrial-scale carbon burning along with the destruction of tropical forests is turning the planet into hells inferno, quite literally. Ecological breakdown hints at a possible collective annihilation that may be too late to reverse. In the meantime, we remain distracted by various habits, compulsions, and addictions to notice the state of emergency that we are in.

There seems to be a war on everything from consciousness exploration to information. The hijacking of narratives is easy to accomplish when utilizing personal data. Surpassing oil as the world’s most valuable resource, we are being gaslighted by our own data in the form of propaganda.

The advancements in technology allow almost anything that we can dream of, become reality.

However, when used within a culture devoid of any moralistic value system, the opportunity to exploit all living creatures and the environment for personal gain is too seductive for some to walk away from. Opportunists will always be apt to capitalize on another’s demise, creating a dystopian reality not so off base from science-fiction.

So, how do we deal with the darkness of life?

In order to transform the darkness of the world, we must first honestly examine ourselves. Every one of us is capable of participating in the atrocities that are playing out. All that is needed is the right conditions and circumstances. It’s painful to observe the worst parts of ourselves. Its easier to judge others with a sense of superiority. Once we understand that the world and everyone in it is a reflection of ourselves on some level, we can learn acceptance.

Nothing has meaning except for the meaning we give it.

Our reality can change from one of negativity to one of increased happiness. We just need to assign new meaning to the trials in modern-day life. Every cloud has a silver lining. This becomes obvious the more we practice looking at things from a different perspective. We don’t have to follow the standards or ideals of society when something negative happens. Growth and new beginnings usually come from seemingly bad situations.

I observe silver lining in the horrors of humanity as a reason to awaken from complacency. We can collaborate to form a new vision of how we want to coexist on this planet, before its too late. Transgenerational traumas can serve as a reason to evolve our consciousness and realize our higher potential. I understand that the world is no more or less insane than I am. That is because I am not separate from it.

“The rain began again. It fell heavily, easily, with no meaning or intention but the fulfillment of its own nature, which was to fall and fall.”
