New studies for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease
Recent studies conducted at the Gladstone Institute and published on Neuron, highlighted the possibility of the development of a new therapy for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Our brain and its function are highly coordinated, just like an orchestra. This is possible thanks to a particular type of neurons, the interneurons, which allow the harmonization of the rhythms of nerve impulses, from one area of the brain to another. In the central nervous system there are mainly inhibitory interneurons that create a network of neuronal circuits. The authors of the study performed a genetic manipulation of these cells, improving them. The engineered cells were then implanted into a mouse model of model of Alzheimer’s disease and showed that the pathological condition could be improved.

Deivis has identified within the portrait of Vittoria Colonna, made by Michelangelo in 1525, what could be a small caricature of the author himself, made by exploiting the expedient of the folds of the woman’s dress. In the image that we present, it’s the sketch of the work, the drawing seems to depict a painter who paints.

The numerous space missions have left a large amount of waste, which still orbit about heads. This debris could hit and severely damage satellites operating in space and these impacts may lead to the formation of debris that would become a threat to astronauts. To solve this problem, the European agency Airbus is planning a vehicle equipped with a harpoon that allows the “capture” and the removal of these objects.

Una recente ricerca svolta presso l'istituto di Gladstone e pubblicata su Neuron, ha evidenziato la possibilità dello sviluppo di una nuova terapia per il trattamento del morbo di Alzheimer.

Il nostro cervello e le sue funzioni sono altamente coordinate, così come avviene in un'orchestra. Questo grazie ad un particolare tipo di neuroni, gli interneuroni, i quali consentono l'armonizzazione dei ritmi degli impulsi nervosi da un'area all'altra del cervello.
Gli interneuroni sono principalmente di tipo inibitorio nel sistema nervoso centrale, creando una rete di circuiti neuronali. Gli esperimenti sono stati condotti su modello murino, attraverso un miglioramento genetico di queste cellule e trapiantandole in un animale affetto da Alzheimer, si potrebbe migliorare la condizione patologica.

Deivis ha identificato all’interno dell’opera ritraente Vittoria Colonna, realizzata proprio da Michelangelo nel 1525, quella che potrebbe essere una piccola caricatura dell’autore stesso, realizzata sfruttando l’espediente delle pieghe del vestito della donna. Nell’immagine che vi riportiamo, rappresentate lo schizzo dell’opera, il disegno sembra raffigurare un pittore che dipinge.
Netturbini spaziali
Nonostante il titolo che abbiamo scelto possa non sembrare molto entusiasmante, lo scopo del progetto è molto importante.

Le numerose missioni spaziali hanno lasciato una grande quantità di rifiuti, che tutt'ora orbitano sopra le nostre teste. Questi detriti potrebbero urtare e danneggiare gravemente i satelliti funzionanti nello spazio e questi impatti potrebbero portare alla formazione di detriti che diverrebbero una minaccia per gli astronauti. Per risolvere questo problema, l’agenzia europea Airbus, sta progettando un veicolo dotato di arpione che consente la “cattura” e la rimozione di questi oggetti.
