Red Nose Comic Relief Fund Raising

Red nose day. What it is all about?

Comic Relief organised a fund raising event which was broadcasted live on BBC 1 and BBC 2. It was broadcasted from the evening of the 13th of March to the next day’s morning. May 25 is now celebrated as the red nose day in United States. And most of the people around are going nuts because they really don’t have a clue as to what it represents or what it stands for. Long story short, it is a fund raising event that has been started to gather money to fight against child poverty.

You may now winder as to how does buying a red piece of foam nose at a nearby drug store something as little substantial as a buck, help this cause? And another question that pops up in the back of the head is whether this charity really helps the poor children?

Well here is the report found about this event.
The event was started by the British Charity named Comic Relief as mentioned above. It started in the year 1985 as a method to raise ample amount of money to fight child poverty prevalent in the society at that time. One thing that many people wonder about is that why the event is named the way it is? Well, there is no definite answer to that question but from what we have heard, the basic idea was to have a symbol that makes the people laugh. And not only common people but various celebrities were involved in this effort. Celebrities ranging from the Space Girls to Hugh Grant have put on the red noses in the hopes of promoting the fundraising effort.

The event is held every two years by the team in UK. And it has reached the feat of collecting, a staggering 1.4 billion$ which has been distributed to all the charities that fight child poverty.

Around 3 years back, the event with all its popularity, crossed over to the US, and it became an annual event once it reached there. But still it is not so common as to become a household word. And in a recent survey it was found that over 60% Americans were not able to fully grasp the concept of the event.

Money is raised using different ways, as the day of the event comes near and on the main event day itself. Of 1 dollar of merchandise bought, 50 cents go to the charity. The people taking part in the event are also allowed to make direct donations to the charity. They can do so on the Red Nose telethon which airs on Thursday night on NBC.

Bill and Melinda Gates foundation also supports the event and matches the total donations made on Facebook. The amount reaches up to a million dollars.

Thus this even is a great way to fight child poverty and has helped the people realise the importance of giving their part in making the world a better place.

Sort:

Bill and Melinda Gates are evil eugenisists and the BBC are the worlds most powerful propaganda entity with years of experience in protecting paedophiles. People need to wake up, Comic relief may be outwardly a benevolent charity with well meaning people fronting it however sadly like a lot of charities it may not be what it seems.

Evidence regarding Gates is plentiful.

Educate yourself on individual charities before advocating for them as they are not always what they appear to be.
