A growing number of professional provocateurs and small businesses are calling Youtube demonetization as well as Patreon and major banking institutions refusal of service as a form of censorship. The refusal to allow the Proud Boys to have a bank account for selling their online products is one example. Another example is how Patreon deplatformed Jordan Peterson over his ideological viewpoints.

If the intent is to shut down or severely diminish the capabilities of a person due to your disagreement with that individual it is an act of censorship. You don't like the idea because you want the power to do with without having to face the heat of public opinion against censorship.

You wish to control the narrative, but Steem going down a censorship path is a very dumb thing to do considering the kind of people usually attracted to cryptocurrencies.
