Cityscape#4
A few days ago I had a fun day as I checked in to my city and discovered a day of firsts. I mined my first Scientists and received my first background - The Rockies! I also mined an Immigrants card, which is good to see I'm finally mining new Immigrants and Homeless just about every day. It feels like growth is sustainable when you're getting natural population growth as well as daily Income to buy new properties.
Also, I'm not sure that I mined the background (it said I did) or if it was actually an airdrop associated with the new upgrade for dCity - editable cities! If it was actually mined, it would be an amazing coincidence to get it the same day we got editable cities, especially considering I only have a 1% chance for Backgrounds right now. I won't complain though.
Anyway, we can now edit the look of our cities with the properties we own to personalize it. It's a simple but very fun little addition. There's also Animations, which I don't have yet but am looking forward to getting someday. The tool also has a random feature so you can just let it randomize the city screen look for you. My first edit:
Today I check in to see some new warnings about Natural Disasters and Riots. It's only in simulation mode right now but probably gets real soon enough. 3rd edition is coming.
I'm a little stressed about when 1st edition will stop printing because I don't have the resources big cities have to stock up on those cards. I'm doing the best I can, planning ahead, shopping for the lowest prices, reinvesting my daily SIM income etc. But still, I dread the day will come and I check in to find 1st edition stops printing and thus begins the inevitable rise of 1st edition card prices. My worry is that I don't have a decent number of the cards I want before that happens. Some are just too pricy, but I have goals on the others.
On another note, I hit my high ranking of about #485 the other day and have since fallen back a bit into the 500's again. There is definitely more competition in this range. And it's not just other cities having more daily SIM income to keep their cities growing. More people in this ranking range are regularly investing outside Hive into dCity. At this rate, I don't know if I'll ever break in to the top 400.
I'm heading down to check out the view of the Rockies with my new Scientists. See you there!
