My dCrops Journey... the beginning

in #dcrops8 months ago

dCrops the Web3 game came across my radar when a proposal on Splinterlands website announced a special limited edition NFT you could buy (Olive Tree) as part of a collaboration between these two games and having my interest peaked, I was eager to learn more about dCrops the farming, planting, harvesting and all the cooking recipes and the instruments to make and cook them and to see if this was a viable investment for me as well as a fun game to play.

Now there are already a lot of good posts and a wiki page that will outline the mechanics of the game and it doesn’t take long with the help of some great individuals on their discord to have a good enough grasp of what is involved within the game and how to earn some Crop, (crop being there token) as after all this is a web3 game which you’re buying into this with real money.

Now I have been involved in these types of games before and you have to understand this isn’t a get-rich-quick game as most will reinvest all they make each season to improve their holdings within the game building up an account will improve season rewards and holding rewards so each season your account grows same as any investment.

one major warning this is a crypto-based game it can go down in value so you can lose all your investments, so only using funds you can afford to lose is the best advice.

So, my journey so far…

Liked what I saw and read, this game has been around for 3 years, and still growing I like that it is a slow burner, and now we moving into bear markets who knows where this will be in 4years, I brought over 500 beta packs and brought from the market and hive engine what I thought I needed to get to a good place to begin with as I want compound for a while, reinvestment is key for my plan and happy steadily growing.

So armed with as much knowledge as I have managed to read up on so far and I’m a math-based player still doing all the breakdowns on returns best value seed to purchase and use and anything else I need these first few seasons will be telling, each season Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter brings with it its own set of cards/seeds when the harvest is going to grow my inventory to allow me to craft and cook without having to buy from the Farmers Market so often as most of the crops you harvest can be used to make food or drinks which increases its overall value to sell gaining a higher place on the leaderboard and more Crop,

all crops earned can be added to the Liquidity Pool exchanged on Hive or used on the marketplace, this will all go towards the holding rewards which are paid out daily.

So all season ends after a 15-day cycle, and when you finish on the leaderboard by selling your plants/food/ drink you will be rewarded with Crop, In my first full season I came around 8th which paid me about 8000 crop which is around 75 hive so not that bad, as I’m writing this we heading toward the end of the Summer Season and I used all earnt crop to keep buying and time will tell when I’m not using this to purchase it can them go into the liquidity pool.

Will update you on the next full rotation of the seasons as I want to be banking my earned crop not spending, I still have a lot on my wish lists but it's fun and for me I’m using other crypto earnt to fund this so minimizing my overall risk keeps it in a happy place for the way I’m going about building this portfolio and time will tell was it worth it.

Thanks, Ike
