So basically if I took $1000 And swaped them for quarters and this split happened, then I could trade $1000 worth of quarters for $1000 new dollars. And if i didnt do this then the $1000.00 of old currency would be worth $10.00 in new currency. So I should keep all my change.
You pretty much have it figured out... As per my Theory, the 4,000 quarter dollars ($1,000) will end up having the Buying Power of 100,000 old dollars or you can buy back the 1,000 in New Dollars with the new buying power the same as that of the 100,000 old dollars... If you avoid pocket change and keep the 1,000 old dollars, you will be given 10 New Dollars with the buying power of 1,000 old dollars... So, you won't lose anything by holding the old dollars, but you will gain plenty if you hole Coinage (as per my Theory)...
