Courtesies that brighten your day

in #decency8 years ago (edited)

A couple of days ago I was shopping at Costco. Having paid for my stuff, I realized that I had forgotten one item. I went back, picked that up and stood in the checkout line once again. I must have drifted sideways for once the family in front of me was done, the cashier called out to the lady behind me to place her stuff on the stand. Before I could say anything, she promptly replied that I was ahead of her and that I should go first. I was impressed that in this day and age of elbowing others to get ahead she would have the decency to respect the line up and thanked her. To my surprise, the lady with the family who had just finished paying turned around and told me that had she known that I had just one item, she would have let me go first. I was astonished and thanked her as well. Decency and courtesy to fellow beings are still very much alive and kicking......there is hope yet!

It was Mother's Day, 2017.

When those nice things happen to me I pay it forward. It feels good.

Great idea! Will do the same.
