From A to Z colleagues have formulated a peace plan for the War in Ukraine. Russia must withdraw all forces from Ukrainian territory using the internationally recognized border. Ukraine can then be denied NATO membership until such time as Russia invades again.
This would be the true path toward peace according to think tank alumni as it takes into consideration Russia’s fear of a NATO invasion. It might seem to be a repeat of the prior deal where Ukraine’s nuclear weapons and neutrality with Russia were agreed upon. Yet this time Ukraine could be given the protection of NATO as punishment for Russian aggression.
This is the key to peace and stability in the region. There needs to be areas of safe travel for tourism, goods, and services for economies to thrive. There also needs to be a demilitarized zone.
However, this could have been foreseen as a new age begins in European power with Zelenskyy having already closed the door on peace with Russia this week, possibly? Of course, we’re talking about his creation of a defense industry coalition willing to supply arms wherever countries suffer from aggression. While details on the benefits of membership remain vague; we know that an international group of arms dealers has already signed on.
This new development addresses more cynical aspects of the war in Ukraine. Now were talking about the Ukrainian countryside being turned into a testing ground for the military industrial complex. It has the irony of destroying food production for areas that used to host military games. Yes, very cynical aspects of this war.
We also saw North Korea speak at the United Nations in New York to declare their intention to manufacture more nuclear weapons. This got some attention, only there lacks a fear, as if there’s something the government has in store that nuclear proliferation should be scared of. Another raise of the eyebrow toward secret developments of weapons technology even as a bunker buster missile got revealed.
Meanwhile Nigeria says it’s raising wages for workers. This after a Wagner plan crash in Africa killing all the soldiers onboard. A very bad omen.
This brings us to China and a continuing war of words. It must be pointed out that while China’s state-run media might score points in a bid to argue with the United States government, we don’t see the same debate on the commercial side. Even as Chinese industries push forward new domestic products from jet liners, EV cars, and smartphones.
This is where the interest of the world wants to make breakthroughs in technology. While the West gets blamed for trying to stall growth in this area; it seems obvious that Asian countries have a thirst for knowledge as it pertains to computer development. Give the West credit in wanting to incorporate Asian nations in future tech growth under the control of a global governing body. Yet China remains combative in its attempt to take the lead on technological developments.
Cynics point out that China wants to have the most advanced weapons systems. Others fear China wants to take over the Moon. Either way, nations that support Ukraine against Russia’s aggression have already made the connection to China; earnest dialogue on supply chains that could make a possible enemy stronger emerges. Now we have the trade war with China as we’re shifting partnerships to India, the world’s largest democracy.
This turns into destabilization on two continents with India upset with Canada. For the first time, Canada becomes the target of world scrutiny. That’s coupled with a former Ukrainian Nazi being honored in Parliament as President Zelenskyy addressed them. Some say it’s a product of Russian Propaganda and Chinese influence. It proves that there are competing world visions on how to move forward into the future.
That’s why From A to Z is now promoting its peace plan. NATO is being baited by Russia to become the new Nazi and attack Russia with prejudice fulfilling a victim role to mobilize the country to victory as that nation’s already done in the past.
This plan can work if NATO loses the technological edge. That’s where China is working these days. If they can keep pace with the West, or even surpass Western counterparts while proving to the world their interpretation of global reality; China and Russia might be able to lead global discussion on topics.
Many agree that China and Russia already had this power in the UN before the invasion of Ukraine and threats of violence from China. So we can remain skeptical for the time being.
Thank you,
Cyrus Emerson
