The chance of nuclear war de-escalates each day... not to say the future is without weapons of mass destruction, like controlled weather. They say as example that Russian tech is now 40 - 60 years ahead of US, but I think we changed course from conventional to space weapons. I guess time will sadly tell. I think to deny this already exists is rather naive.
