Privacy is not only for a few, is a right of all people. DeepOnion, a privacy and anonymity focused project.

Only you have the control over your privacy, nobody else.

Looking around, we can see that nowadays internet has become so massive that it is even managing to control many aspects of our life, things that we did not even imagine we could do and automate some 20 years ago. It is enough to take a look at everyday life and feel that our "dependence" is increasing due to the use of a Smartphone or a computer. The day-to-day processes, from getting up, to knowing what route is better to take to avoid traffic, our interaction with others, the products we buy and even the goods and services that we acquire for our daily sustenance; they are linking in an increasingly ingrained way to the use of internet.

Your data is like a fish in the ocean, waiting fo a shark to be devoured

Certainly, nowadays we depend on having a device that allows us to enter at hand the Internet and have a "virtual identity" to access many of the services that previously only required a physical identity. Here we must keep in mind both sides of the coin, the good and the bad. On the one hand the technological advance has facilitated and optimized many extensive and heavy processes for the human being, making these more efficient and precise, but seeing the other side, we find that, precisely, that mechanism makes the fact of making use of these facilities, expose our identity and our interests to more people than we think and more than we can imagine, even reaching the point where we can compare it with being in an ocean of information in which all our data is one more fish and any "fishing boat" (government), or "shark" (hacker) can take it with relatively easily, and this becomes even more harmful when it is our money or our goods that are at risk.

The solution

Following the flow of the growing digital economy and new technologies such as Blockchain; Pointing mainly in cryptocurrencies, I would like to emphasize particularly one of many projects based on Blockchain: His name is DeepOnion (many by the name will already know where I'm focusing). It is a cryptocurrency (its symbol is ONION) relatively new, launched in the middle of this year (2017), and which has a singular commitment to the privacy and anonymity of its users; since this cryptocurrency works on the Tor network (info on the Tor network at the end of the article) natively and all transactions and requests are made on the Tor network, this means that your financial movements can be safe from hackers or even governmental entities that unduly and deliberately want to access the information that you have processed.

It is important to note that DeepOnion also has other interesting features, some of them are

  • DeepVault.

This feature allows us to store cryptographically the information of a file or document in the Blockchain of DeepOnion. This means that information that is stored as a "signature" is immutable, therefore this allows us to verify the authenticity of the files recorded over time.

  • DeepSend.

With this feature, we can make transactions (payments) in an intrazable way, in an "ultrasecret" way. Which further increases security and privacy at the time of our monetary transactions.

A "supertool" on the road

Taking a look at DeepOnion Roadmap we can also see that by 2018 the Smart Contracts will be implemented (Info. At the end of the article); what to my concept, is a very important component when we speak about security and authenticity of the information. I think that this component, combined with features like the ones I mentioned above, will create a new "supertool" that will be quite useful to keep optimized and safe the processes that we carry on a daily basis and that depend more and more on information technologies.

Finally two things...

I want to tell about two little things. The first is that, as I mentioned before, DeepOnion is a new cryptocurrency, so this also makes it interesting for many people interested in investing; currently (November 2017) its price is around $1 USD, which makes my concept very tentative to invest as this kind of innovative projects will always give us surprises. The second is that DeepOnion development team is making two weekly Airdrops (free distributions of ONION) to the community, since this is part of their distribution plan; One of them is accessible to everyone because it is based on a system of points (DeepPonits) that are achieved by interacting in the community forum (you can register, link at the end), the other is a distribution that is made depending on of the amount of coins (ONION) you have in your wallet, for this you must have a minimum of 100 coins in addition to meet some requirements (for more info link at the end of the article).

I hope the information has been useful.
