Over time however it became more and more difficult to interact with my followers. Meaning, I got less and less comments and likes to my posts. I first thought that my posts were not good enough, then I realized that facebook simply didn't show them anymore without me paying for them.
So I started to pay because it was still a good tool for me.Thanks for your interesting question @crypto.piotr. A couple of years ago, I was very active on facebook. It was a good tool to promote my business. There was not much else out there at the time.
My followers just stopped to be active on Facebook
After a while, even my paid posts didn't have any effect anymore. I talked to my customers and came to realize that my followers simply didn't spend their time on facebook anymore. I'm probably not the only one who invested a lot of money to build up a base of followers and then saw one day that it was not sustainable.
Well, I'm not answering your question tough. I used facebook and I knew how they were earning their money. The big scandal about Facebook should certainly not come as a surprise.
Scary thing about Facebook
What I found more scary about facebook is that the other day my wife posted a photo and I was in the background of it. Because of face recognition, I got tagged automatically and all my friends saw the photo. Probably it is possible to switch this feature off somewhere but I gave up trying to find where it is. (do you know where?)
So it seems Facebook is collecting my data even without me doing anything on Facebook myself. Wherever my face pop's up on a photo, Facebook will know it and share whatever they want with my friends.
So will I delete my Facebook account?
No, I will not because I cannot. My Facebook account is linked to numerous services like Instagram, etc. I will just not use it anymore and try to figure a way out to avoid face recognition.
Sorry my comment became too long again... If you bother to read till hear congrats ;-)
BIG THX for sharing your thoughts.
I had quite similar experiences. I also realized that even if I pay my engagement is close to zero.
Could I achieve on facebook what I've achieved on Steemit within a month? I dont think so.
Very true. And yet it did for so many people.
Not really. Your story is indeed scary. Luckily fb never did this shit with my photos.
My reasons are again very similar to yours. Boring haha :)
Congratz to both of us :) for being awesome! :)
