You make a great point, definitely a lot of insincerity and fishing for attention. I even catch myself doing it from time to time, but I think what Steem does is encourage me to actually comment. I watch your Youtube videos all the time, but I rarely comment. If I watch on Dtube on the other hand, I almost make sure to comment and give my two cents. So in that way I love it because it encourages and give me incentive to actually engage with you and the community that watches your video. In that way I think it's a winning platform the community is there. Facebook and YouTube had their own little quirks we hated about them in their beginning stages too. As long as the team behind Steem can innovate they can dominate.
