I had a conversation recently with someone and we were talking about depression so I had to make a blog post about it.
I don’t believe people should be happy all the time.
So many time it seems we are trying to make ourselves, “be happy”. Because society is always saying, just be positive.
If you’re sad, then be sad for a few days. Get into the feeling of sadness for awhile. Spend some time in your pyjamas and watch some movies. Do it more. Everything gets better overtime.
Change your state, change your mind
Afterwards, go do something that you enjoy, like running or going to the gym or meditation. Changing your physical state is undeniably beneficial. There is a reason why there are so many gyms no days.
Write a Journal
Writing a journal can help.
You’re not special
Sorry to tell you this but you are just like everyone else.
Everyone get depressed. Rich people, poor people, leaders and coaches and celebrities all have bad days. It’s part of the game.
And when you do get depressed, home much time is actual depression? You can’t be depressed while doing your job, or talking to a friend, usually it’s only a few hours a day.
Changing your environment, changes you
If you create your apartment that looks happy then it will have an effect of your mood. Clean you place. Get rid of the junk food. Put fresh fruit on the table. Put quotes on the wall you like to read. Clean your car out. Put your gym bag at the door the night before so it’s ready to go.
Are watching mindless cat videos on youtube all day? There are tons of free podcasts on youtube that are positive. Listening to some Tony Robbins is better than any cat video, I can say without a doubt.
Little things add up to big things quickly.
