Animals of the World!!
I am back from vacation and the Deranged Photography Contests are in full swing. This contest theme is Animals of the World. Since this is an international photo contest and you all are from all over the globe, I want to see some of the your best shots of the animals that are local to your area or shots of animals that you capture while you were traveling.
Shots of dogs and cats are cool and everything but I want see shots of animals that people don't see every day. Things like alpacas, kinkajous, sloths (bonus points if you post awesome pictures of these because my daughter loves them), or jaguars. I am looking forward to to seeing the awesome pictures you all come up with. Hopefully we all can learn of some new animals from this contest.

How is the Deranged Photography Contest set up?
The contest will be broken up into three different tiers. Each will have a different payout for the winners based on what tier you enter into. Here is a breakdown of the winning based on the tiers:
Place | Professional | Amateur | Beginner |
---|---|---|---|
1st | 1.25 SBD | 1 SBD | 1 SBD |
2nd | 0.75 SBD | 0.5 SBD | 0.5 SBD |
3rd | 0.5 SBD | 0.25 SBD | 0.25 SBD |
Each contest will be open for submissions for 5 days after the post is made and then closes at 0100 UTC (1800 MST) on the 5th day.
This will give me and any guest judges time to judge the submissions and create the post announcing the winners.
How to enter
When you enter a photo in the competition, you will state what tier you want to be judged in and locked in for the month at that level.
For example if you enter a photo, you drop the photo in the comment section, state what level of photographer you are, and then give a description of the photograph.
If you want to make your own post and reference the contest in your post, that would be awesome, just remember to post your picture in the comment section along with your post link. Who knows, you may get a visit and an upvote on your post as well as an upvote on the picture. Use the tag #derangedphotography to make it easy to find your posts.
Additional Notes
Only one submission per contest. Extra submissions will be ignored.
You can switch your tier ONE time per month, but only if you are moving up into a higher tier, for example if you are currently in the amateur tier, but you think that you have a photograph that you want to enter in the professional tier, you can state that you are changing your tier to professional. You will then be locked into the new tier for the remainder of the month. You are not able to move down to a lower tier, like going from amateur to the beginner tier.
If you do not state wish tier you want to be judged in for the month, I will leave a comment to remind you to do so, but if you don't respond, you will be assigned to a tier and locked in for that month.
Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any form. All submissions must be your own work. I will investigate every entry and one of the main sponsors is the @steemcleaners team, so if you are caught plagiarizing, not only will you be blacklisted from competing from any future contests, but you will be reported to @steemcleaners as well. It is not worth it to try and cheat, especially with the 3 tier set up where everyone has an equal shot of winning.
Who are the amazing sponsors?
One major sponsor to the contests is @pfunk. For those that don't know @pfunk is a very active witness on the platform that is doing a lot behind the scenes to ensure that your user experience is a smooth one.

vote for @ats-witnessI would also like to welcome @ats-david as another amazing sponsor to the contests. He is an awesome photographer himself and runs several of his daily own contests over on @brospn-contests. If you are a sports fan, you definitely need to check out those contests. He is also the brains behind @brospn where you can stay up to date with anything sports related. He works tirelessly to make sure everyone is informed with what is going on in the sports universe. On top of all of that, He is a witness for the Steem blockchain. So if you have free witness votes you can vote for @ats-witness here
If you would like to become a sponsor and delegate SP to the Deranged Photography Contests you can do so by clicking on the following links:
50 SP, 100SP, 250SP, 500SP, 1000SP,5000SP.
Now get out and start shooting
I hope you are all excited about this new contest. The contest themes will be different than what you are used to seeing on Steemit, and I am doing this to encourage everyone to get out and shoot new pictures. If you are a life long professional nature photographer, some of the themes may push you to try and learn something new. If you are just a beginner photographer, this is a great place to have fun shooting all sorts of exciting styles and learn in the process.

I am looking forward to seeing all of your great submissions. Have fun taking those pictures!!
Here’s my entry, shot at the Everglades in Florida:
This is awesome. i like how the turtles are starting at the alligator.
Great shot!
I think we have a winner here :)
Yay, animals are back! :) Awesome. Meet Ricky, the black spiny-tailed iguana that was a kind of our pet while we were living in Mexico. He was a wild iguana but we would come to meet him and feed him his favorite food (hibiscus leaves) almost every day :) He also loved to pose for photos :D
Nejkráásnejšíííí :) 💙
wow that´s a big one!
That thing is huge. That is weird that he was a leaf eater.
If you want to see a wild Koala there is one place where you almost got a 100% chance to see one, and this is Cape Otway on the Great Ocean Road Australia.
Tier: Amateur
I almost posted the same thing, since it’s so Aussie! :) But I saw the most ones on Raymond Island.
it doesn´t get more aussie than kangaroos and koalas. thanks for the hint, haven´t been on this island.
I want to hold it, but then I saw those claws. Great shot.
Amateur Tier:
My Grandfather's horse Chief. He was born the same day that my Grandfather's brother Jim passed away. Jim was a Fire Chief for nearly 30 years hence the name.
That is a cool picture. I like the eyes.
Thanks. He has one blue eye and one brown eye.

This is a baby humpback whale being playful around a boat I was on in Hawaii.
Awesome shot. I would love to be able to see this in real life.
It's so hard to get a picture of a breach lol hence the crappy focusing and glare. Not that I had any photography skills either haha: but you just never know when and where one is going to jump out at. So I ended up with mostly a lot of big splash pictures.
wow.. amazing creature!
My sweet doggie baby Tim! :)
he looks so cute!!
Those photos are amazing, @derangedvisions, wow! I'm eager to make a safari in Africa one day. But I'm in any way! Let me just pick a photo! See you!
Some hours later...
Here are my post and photo for this week's edition! Tier level: Professional

lovely ~ 😊✨ ~
Thanks so much!
This is so cool. The monkey looks like a wise old man. I can't wait to visit Indonesia to be able to get shots like this. Great entry.
Aw, you'll love it! Such a diverse country... and magical! I would visit every single island if I could! Thanks for your compliment, my friend! This guy was so cute... and look at his nose :D!
I don't know how could I have missed this theme until now!! Probably working like a madman is to blame. Don't know if I'm still on time, but even if I'm not, since my last big trip was to Costa Rica and I was blessed to be able to see most of the animals that I wanted... here's one of my favourites for your daughter: :)
OH snap!!!! She is going to be so excited!
Mission acomplished then! :) This is the three toed sloth, Bradipus variegatus... the one that actually posed fot the photo!
Love that lioness shot! Thanks for the opportunity to enter your contest, here's my entry:

This bull Elk seems to be having a nice day at the beach. Its a beautiful day along the shores of the Pacific Ocean in northern California. It looks like the wildlife enjoy the Park as much as the people.

This is such a cool shot. I love the framing in this one. You can tell that camel is not amused. Your entries are always so fun.

When I am at my beloved second home in the Czech Republic I have the privilege to stay with a mob of peacocks that live semi-wild in the park since many a year now ~ 🤗❤️ ~
Being shy by nature they can become tame over time and especially the older males show courage to the point were my very favorite one — since exactly today...! what great coincidence — picks up food from the palm of my hand ~ ✨ ~
:)
Here in the picture he is looking a lot more ˋpredatory´ than he actually is...!

your comment just made me to search your post. Birds are just magical. I just love bird watching and there is no simplicity better than that.
Great shot and great angle btw.
oh I feel honored...! ~ I am basically a writer and ˋbirdwatching´ indeed plays a little role in one of my books ~ 😊✨ ~
yes ~ I very much like this image’s angle...! It is not everyday that one catches a peacock’s underparts...ha...!
This is so cool. I really like your editing style. I have been watching your work in @czechglobalhosts' contests for a while and I like the dream like feel you put on all of your photos. It is very unique.
thank you so much...! I truly have a fondness for editing and it is wonderful to hear that people positively recognize my specific style...!
I indeed am constantly overwhelmed with the ˋmagic´ in everything which seems to reflect in my artistic output :)

Greetings friends of Deranged Photography Contests Here I leave my entry. I hope you like them
Morrocoy

Perhaps they're not as exotic as a sloth (though I do have some sloth pics, somewheres) but these sweet Gray Langur Monkeys really are a treat to spend time with/near.
I couldn't choose just one, so – here's my post honoring this Mum n' Babe. Enjoy!
tier: Professional
I see, our ex judge is here too. Great photo. Where is this btw?
Do pet katydids count as animals?
beginner
Sure they do. They aren't humans or plants and are alive, so I guess that would work.
i will probably skip this as the most exotic animals in my surroundings are foxes :) i think the most dangerous animal in my neighborhood is a badger :D
I don't have badgers here. That would be an awesome entry.
there are no that much encounters with them, i think i saw 1. most of the times it is unfortunately a roadkill in some period of a year. (don't know, maybe they are migrating from one field to another).
following .sweet post bro, glad to see you on the @themarkymark dlive... trying to find you on discord but i haven't really learned how to find specific users that well yet. trying though, shoot me a DM if you can find me..
Thanks. It was a great show hanging out with everyone. I am looking forward to the next one. I will see if i can find you on discord. I am derangedvisions#5934 on discord if that helps.
we made contact perfectly thanks to you.
good show for sure, enjoyed it a lot
Beginner Tier
The guide tells me it is the elusive stone fish. It seldom comes out of its stone cave. It loves to prank its viewers thinking it was a stone only to move and find out it was a fish after all.
Wow its gonna awesome ,I just love contests .As it is wildlife photography contest so It may be little big tricky.
Wow! Amazing Shots @derangedvisions :)
This shot made in 2016 on german alpines at about 1500m i want to get into the Amateurtier as everytime. At least are my pictures free from Softwareupdates or filters.. sometimes i need about 100 shots to hit the right one... smile
Hope you enjoy this one
My Entry to the Amature Tier.
The most encounters I would have here is with a squirrel. The foxes run, the deer run, the moose are deep in the forest or on the side of the road which is not often and the bears... .I don't want to encounter a bear... fish? lol

Tasmanian Devil
Tasmanian devils are the world's largest surviving marsupials. They used to live on mainland Australia but became extinct there due to increased aridity and the spread of dingoes. These animals are considered icons but in the past they were hunted, trapped or poisoned because of their raids on poultry farms. Consequently, they became rare and headed for extinction but in 1941 a law was made to protect them. They faced another threat in 1996 with the occurance of Devil Facial Tumour Disease which proved to be fatal. Thankfully Tasmanian devils remain widespread in Tasmania.
@derangedvisions,
Wes, the picture of the cheetah ... priceless.
