Shibuya Nights

ShibuyaNights.jpg

I tend to live in remote areas away from civilization and subsequently don't take a lot of street photography. While its not really my forte, I do find it fascinating. I pulled this shot from my archives for the 'Take it to the Streets' photography contest run by Wes West (aka Deranged) from @derangedvisions (contest link here).

I you have not bumped into Deranged yet, it's amazing what he has been able to achieve on Steemit these past few months. It's worth reading his steemitnamechallenge post here, it might change your perspective on what you have had to endure in this world.

I love the streets of Tokyo and have been there over a dozen times in the last decade. This shot was taken on a particularly wet and shiny night at Shibuya crossing. At one point it was said to be the busiest crossing in the world and can have over 1000 people attempt to cross at a time. It was made famous in the west in the early 90's by a scene in the cult film Baraka, Ron Frick's non-narrative documentary masterpiece.

If you would like to learn a little bit more about my background in photography you can read the interview @photofeed did with me here

Great picture. I've tried to take a photo here, but it was really difficult to get a good shot.

Really nice photo, I particularly like street photography because it's so impromptu and unrehearsed.

Thanks. Yes street is always interesting due to the unknowns.

I really like the overall red tone. Works well with the rainy night

Very cool shot man! Love the color and detail in the photo. Well done @interpidphotos :D
Would love to go to Tokyo one day!

I love street photography and have had a few attempts at it. Definitely keen to try it more often and hit the streets at night. The water on the road throws such nice light! Earned a follower mate look forward to more great shots :)

Thanks. I see your from my old haunt. I lived around the lower hunter ( Wollombi ) and the Central Coast for well over a decade.

Ahh nice! I try and get out and shoot around the area with my girlfriend pretty often. It’s cool you’ve done the same. Any secluded spots your recommend to have a look at?

Its not secluded but Somersby falls is nice and worth walking down to the lower falls. I saw you had a post of the reptile park its just around the corner. Yengo national park is a real gem and rarely visited by anyone. There are some amazing spots out there that are all off map.

I’ve actually been to some parts of yengo and I know where Somersby falls are so I’ll be sure to get shooting out in those parts

Cool street shot Robert. 😎

There is so much going on and it feels like we are t=right there - minus getting wet.

Thanks. Glad to hear that is how it makes you feel.
