Stony deserts differ from sand or dune deserts in that all the sand has generally been blown away to somewhere else to form a dune desert.
This happens when the prevailing winds are always in one direction and never bring the loose sand back.
Far away in the distance a patch of green can be seen with some water. This is from a river that originates elsewhere and flows through the desert on its journey to the sea.
