My First Day on the Job-- An Interior Design Journey

in #design7 years ago

Hey ya'll. I started a new job. And so far, I LOVE IT!

Look at these pics of the first house I worked on as a project manager/ assistant for an interior design and staging firm called A1000xBetter.

This is the first room once you walk inside the house off to the right. It is quaint, but the colors my boss chose to use were spot on for me. The hint of purple in the pillow against the step stool. Gosh! So lovely. The teal green in the rug was everything to me. One thing I've learned since starting this new career is that the rug may just be the most important aspect of any room. Who would have known? I've never used a rug in my space, except for the runner I have that is old and outdated and just so I can step on it first thing in the morning to avoid stepping on the cold wood floor. LOL. So in other words... I definitely don't know much about interior design--yet! But I am learning.

This is the dining room and you can partly see the living room in the back. Again, the rug is awesome. It's bright and fun colors stand out against the all black wood table and chairs. I feel like it tied the whole room together. Black is one of my favorite colors because duh...and this just makes me happy because it doesn't feel too cold or overdone with the darkness. Any time there is built in bookshelves make my heart happy. That stems from a childhood love for Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Ha.
I was in charge of the apples ya'll! Haha...look out designers--Here I come! ;)

room 3.PNG

Here is the living room. A pic taken by our lead designer Gillian Lawlee. You should seriously check out her Instagram @my.life.in.colour because she is rad. I was so surprised that this couch was partly leather and wood. What a fun combo as it gives such a rustic yet hip vibe to the house. There are two rugs in this one where the checkered colorful one is accenting the purple. If one rug is great by itself, then two rugs just take the room to the next level. Holla! Plus they love their sheep skins and you can't go wrong with those. Also the coffee table could not have been more perfect as the two tone of the black wicker and tan binding completes the room making it feel unified. Even though it was a smaller space, the overall color story made both the dining and living room feel like a cohesive unit while feeling like separate spaces.

It's a cute little Craftsman that sold way over asking price after receiving over 20 offers. Nicely done team!

Can't wait to share the other amazing houses A1000xBetter is creating into masterpieces. More to follow. :)
