I’ve been bothered by the thought that I have my own ONE TRUE CALLING. I’m sure a lot of people too. According to them, ONE TRUE CALLING is your destiny, your sole purpose in this world. The main reason why you exist and that you should find it.
Seeking your true calling will push you to try a lot of things. People switch jobs, change careers, travel the world, jump from one degree to another or try new hobbies just to figure out this what they named your “calling”. Me myself have tried this too. I tried joining bands (since I can sing), tried learning graphic design (because I have internet access, a laptop, and I think I’m a bit creative), ran as vice-president external in my college department and won (it is because I have plans on being a politician lol ), and now vlogging and blogging.
The downfall of doing what I did or what most people might do to just find their purpose is that, because you knew that you can excel on all those things that you’ve tried, you might become more confused about what you really want to be.
But this also has an advantage tho. This is experimenting stage y’all! This might open you to opportunities that you might someday pursue and focus on. You’ll gain many experiences in the process too. It’s better than not doing anything at all. It’s better than just scrolling up and down your social media accounts. At least you’re doing something to help yourself.
Segue ko lang to ha, Did you know that a person with many interests and creative pursuits has a name? well, Emilie Wapnick tried to create a name for it tho. If you’re like that, you are called: “multipotentialite” (to know more about the terminology visit: Puttylike).
Trying a lot of stuff for me is not only to find my “true calling”. I also have this constant need to learn. I don’t know if this is me being a Gemini or I just love learning new things. Sometimes my YOLO personality just kicks in. I HATE not doing anything. (charot)
But my questions is, do we really have our own ONE TRUE CALLING? or is this just another trend created by some people who aren’t contented with their lives?. But some people think they’ve found it, like how did they knew that? or maybe they just simply settled down to whatever they have now.
What about you? Do you really think you have one true calling?
