RE: Auswandern, eine Option? / Emigrate, an option?

in #deutsch7 years ago

This is a very nice post, with which I can easily identify. For me it was the other way around. Europe was always my dream. I remember as a small child buying a little pocket sized book of French phrases for travelers for 50 cents in an American drug (convenience) store. Even then I was dreaming of Europe.

I emigrated to Germany at a time when it was a lot like the "Canadian Model" that politicians now like to reference. I learned the language and had a job offer before I came to Germany.

It turns out that decision, thanks to six weeks vacation, two week of legal holidays and flex-time allowed me to see the world. I suspect I was able to see more of America than most people who live there.

Early on my wife and I decided to visit the South Pacific for our dream vacation. I don't want to offend anyone, so I won't name the country, but after 3 weeks I couldn't wait to get out of paradise.

These are precarious times, it isn't an easy decision. I have heard good things about Costa Rica, but be sure to spend plenty of time in a place before you burn any bridges ;-) Good luck!!!

I think many things are just a matter of taste, so why should it offend anybody if you report your experiences from your personal point of view?

You're correct about that, but still I don't want to risk offending someone.
