Netflix and Co. offer new, very pleasant possibilities: Whereas in the past you had to sit in front of the TV at certain times when you had to watch a series, now you can do it anytime and from almost anywhere. Usually the next episode even comes automatically, so that you can theoretically lie there for hours and watch.
This also has an influence on the content of many series! While in the past many series didn't have a main story and the single episodes didn't have a direct connection in order not to scare off even irregular viewers, things are different now. Instead of countless 40-minute stories, there are now often sophisticated plots over an entire season or even the entire series. In my opinion, this has also contributed to the fact that series tend to get better.

Meist kommt die nächste Folge sogar automatisch, so dass man theoretisch stundenlang daliegen und schauen kann.
Das hat auch auf den Inhalt vieler Serien Einfluss! Während früher viele Serien kaum eine Hauptstory hatten und die einzelnen Folgen meist keinen direkten Zusammenhang hatten, um auch unregelmäßige Zuschauer nicht abzuschrecken, ist das jetzt anders. Statt unzähliger 40-Minuten-Geschichten gibt es jetzt oft raffinierte Plots über eine ganze Staffel oder sogar die gesamte Serie. Auch das hat meiner Meinung nach dazu beigetragen, dass Serien tendenziell besser werden.
