Plant with the scientific name Helianthus annuus, which is an annual herbaceous plant, belongs to the Asteraceae family and is native to North America, with presence in numerous regions worldwide.
It can be cultivated commercially in large areas, primarily to extract its edible oil or to supplement animal feed.
It can also be planted as an ornamental, since its voluminous flowers are very attractive to turn into ornaments, and at the same time its seed can be used for feeding domestic animals, specifically birds.
