HOW TO PREVENT A BAD DIGESTION:

in #diet7 years ago

How to know if you have a "bad digestion"?

The symptoms are universal:
fatigue after the meal,
digestive troubles,
bloating,
flatulence,
constipation.

According to naturopathy principles, anything that can put you uncomfortable after a meal is a sign of poor digestion and therefore poor food association.

Here are a few tips that can help you have a better digestion:

Food association:
To help your digestive system, you should not eat more than 3 food categories during the same meal. Food will be better digested and assimilated.

Raw vegetables:
Raw vegetables can be present at every meal, they help digestion because of their high fiber content. Exception: if you have weak or irritable intestines (and therefore you are rather prone to diarrhea) do not consume too much raw vegetables to avoid an increase in the inflammation of the digestive mucous membranes. And yes, even if raw vegetables are full of nutrients, their digestion is very laborious and requires a strong digestive system.

Soft cooking:
Give priority to soft cooking and preserve some of the vitamins in your food. Steamed cooking is ideal.

When to drink water:
Do not drink too much while eating. If you are thirsty at mealtime it is likely that you do not drink enough water during the day. The meal is not the ideal time to let go because water dilutes the digestive enzymes and reduces their effectiveness. This will slow your digestion further. Consider drinking a large glass of water before meals to avoid being thirsty during the meal.

Moderation:
Not eating in excess and giving our body time to feel satiety (at least 20 minutes after the start of the meal) is as crucial for your health.

Chew!
Finally, chew! Digestion begins in our mouth and as our intestines still have no teeth, chewing conscientiously its food is already a very good start. In addition, this will allow you to enjoy your meal in a relaxed atmosphere, while enjoying every bite.

true ! never been drinking water while eating. They say you need to wait for at least 30 min before you could drink water. :)
Nice post anyway!
And if you are a dietician I wanna know more about veg proteins :)

Hey, thanks for commenting.
Several studies have shown that we reduce our servings of food when we drink water 30 min before eating. Drinking water before each meal provides a sense of fullness, so not too much food is needed to reach the point of satiety. It's also important to note that drinking too much water before eating will dilute your digestive juices and alter your good digestion. One glass is reasonable.
I'm a registered Dietitian in France and Cyprus. I'll try to make a post on veg proteins soon then :-)
